I've been following TolKien items on eBay for some time and believe that bidders either too often get caught up in a frenzy or overbid because they have little idea of value. I've managed some real bargains on eBay but not recently. Try bestedeals.com or bestbookdeals.com for new books and alibris or bibliofind for used. You may do much better than on eBay.
