In Appendix B it says

Apparently, 'over the Sea' means going to Valinor. And about whether Gimli would be looked down on, remember that Aule made the dwarves, so I don't think he would be completely snubbed, since one of the Vala made his race. That's just my thoughts, so anyone else have any info?
