Methinks someone is trying to teach a few lazy would-be scholars a lesson...

It's a masterpiece of misdirection, though: it's sufficiently similar that a (very) quick skim-read (eg reading the chapter headings and the beginnings and ends of the volumes) wouldn't expose the fraud, but when you get down to brass tacks it's a load of codswallop. The introduction is a classic:

And the essay titles are brilliant, even making the historical tie-ins spurious:
