a LOVE SCENE in THE TWO TOWERS???????

Hey, I was wondering if any of you knew if there was an actual love scene (if Aragorn and Arwen actualy sleep together) in TTT?<BR>Please tell me if you know.

Iargwath 11-27-2002 01:35 AM

Its highly unlikely that the two will sleep together. It will just ruin the integrity of the book. Well if you are referring to that little section in the trailer where they are kissing here is a <A HREF="http://forum.barrowdowns.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=4&t=001246" TARGET=_blank>thread</A> that you might find useful to answer your inklings/questions

Eruwen 11-27-2002 09:00 AM

I read an article on Tolkien Online about it. It said Despite all of the rumors about a love scene, there will be none. Except, of course what Iargwath said. But other than that, no.

Rider of Rohan 11-27-2002 03:22 PM

I've read that there will not be one despite rumors. I can only hope that Peter Jackson will keep the integrity of the books and this just will be a rumor.

Arwen Imladris 11-27-2002 03:48 PM

Perhaps we won't know for sure what will happen until December 18th!

TealDude3 11-27-2002 03:48 PM

I'm sure it will not happen. PJ knows that if he were to put a love scene in the movie he would lose money and fans.

the mortal elf 11-27-2002 04:54 PM

Lose money? More like lose his head! We'd be all over him within seconds after the credits were over!

Morai 11-27-2002 05:38 PM

Arwen will be in TTT, but without the "hanky-panky". The movie is rated PG-13! In a article about TTT in Enertainment Weekly, Liv Tyler said something about wanting to follow Aragorn and stuff. But I don't belive she spoke a word about major love scenes. In fact I think she denied it.

Knight of Gondor 11-28-2002 10:40 AM

After seeing a recent preview, that shows this kiss from another angle, I don't believe it is her kissing him on his death bed (he is not aged), but rather when Aragorn is brought back to Gondor (or is it Helm's Deep?) after being seriously wounded on the battlefield. It would be hard to have frisky-ness going on if he's somewhat unconscious! Plus, the movie review contains the same description as it did for FotR; Battles and scary stuff. No sex. As I said before, way to go, PJ!

-Imrahil- 11-30-2002 06:34 PM

Yes, I doubt there will be anything. That would totally ruin it for me. It Would be an insult to the books. And I would personally go down to Wellington myself, find PJ and punch him.<p>[ November 30, 2002: Message edited by: -Imrahil- ]

Orual 11-30-2002 06:41 PM

That's right, "epic battle sequences and some scary moments." No "sex that will cause Tolkien fans to go find Peter Jackson and have some choice words with him."<P>Though he changed Arwen's role, I think it'd probably be a cold day in the Cracks of Doom before Peter Jackson pulled a stunt like that. Some kissing, yeah, but heck, they're madly in love with each other. (True, in the book they restrained themselves, but I'm sure there was some lip-mashing going on behind the scenes. ) Anyway, that sort of thing wouldn't mesh well with Arwen's new, shiny warrior-babe persona. <P>~*~Orual~*~

Manwe Sulimo 11-30-2002 06:53 PM

What if we had <I>Glorfindel</I> go down and have a love scene with Aragorn? How's <I>that</I> for poetic justice??

MLD-Grounds-Keeper-Willie 11-30-2002 07:18 PM

No love scene. Its PG-13 so there wouldn't be sex. Also if there was a love scene it would be corny as hell. PJ wouldn't do that. And if he somehow does, would you wait for me -Imrahil-, I'd like to give a love scene between his face and my fist.

Nieninque 11-30-2002 08:21 PM

Why, do you want to see them go at it? *wince* Sorry for being so rash

Arwen Imladris 11-30-2002 08:39 PM

Nieninque, are you sure you <I>really</I> want to know?

Knight of Gondor 11-30-2002 08:58 PM

If PJ DID put stuff like that in the movie, we'd all buy <A HREF="http://store.barrowdowns.com/merchant.ihtml?pid=2&lastcatid=1&step=4" TARGET=_blank>Sting</A> and prod PJ until he personally edited out all the junk that he had previously filmed. Heh heh heh...

busybee 12-01-2002 11:12 AM

Ok not a love scene but how about a kiss between Aragorn and Eowyn<BR> <BR>Do u think they would?

the mortal elf 12-01-2002 01:19 PM

NO! I think that would annoy people more than a sex scene with Aragorn and Arwen! Eowyn cannot kiss him! Not only will PJ lose a few non-crucial body parts, but my high opinion of Eowyn in the books will drop subconsciously as well.

TolkienGurl 12-01-2002 01:45 PM

Now, now! We don't need to go threatening violence against PJ! BTW, I believe this has been discussed many times before... *hint hint*

Rachael 12-01-2002 02:18 PM

i don't they'll be one, but it would of been interesting.<P>Allana

Durelin 12-01-2002 04:31 PM

KILL ARWEN!! Then we won't have to worry about it! Mwahahahahahahaha!

VanimaEdhel 12-01-2002 05:10 PM

Firstly, if PJ had decided to put in a love scene, I think Tolkien would go and prod him for us...Tolkien would not have wanted any love scenes in Lord of the Rings...<P>Secondly, if PJ had decided to put in a love scene, Christopher Lee would go and help Tolkien's spirit prod him for us. Mr. Lee seems to be quite the Tolkien fan himself.<P>Thirdly, even if sex was implied, it would still only be a PG-13 rating. There has to be nudity and descriptive sex scenes for it to be R-rated. If they, however, showed Aragorn and Arwen kiss, then go behind a curtain, then later showed them from shoulders up, apparently nude, in bed together, it would be PG-13. <P>Fourthly, I do not think PJ would put sex in the movie. He seems to understand the general idea of the story, even if he did take Glorfindel and the like (actually, after hearing the Commentaries, I agree with more of the decisions he made and why he had to make them in the way he did). He understands the basic integrity of the piece and would not ruin it.

Morai 12-01-2002 07:33 PM

I can definately imagine Tolkien rising from the dead. Yeah, I'd kidnap him and force him to re-write that part of the script. (Of course I'd have some angry buddies from the Downs help me!)
