North East
Hey all,
I was just wondering about something, In TTT legolas says: 'They're taking the hobbits north east' or something along those lines, but i was wondering if that was correct, because wouldnt that mean that Aragorn and Leggy and Gimli would have had to pass through the gap of rohan and be on the other side of the mountains for them to heading north-EAST to Isengard? Ive made movie geography mistakes before so im probobly wrong but...i just need clarification. Okie dokie...cya!
[ April 09, 2003: Message edited by: Arwen_Evenstar ]

It is a bit wonky... they entered Rohan from... the North/North East... it should have been North West... I may be mistaken.
|
Yeh, I checked a map. They were waaaay east of Isengard, meaning that the Uruks were travelling west. Unless the compass points had changed... which i doubt.
For the Uruks to turn north east, Ara, Leg, and dwarf-boy would have to be west of the misty mountains, rather than the east side.

Yeah I noticed that mistake the first time I saw TTT - & it is a mistake, no doubt about it. He should have said North-West.. (unless, of course, you think the party of Uruks had gone too far & needed to turn around )

I've argued about changes and "mistakes" but there is no arguing this one. North-west I would have bought, but north-east, that is a mistake.
I wonder if they could overdub it for the DVD?
H.C.
[ April 09, 2003: Message edited by: HCIsland ]

Don't get too mad; the editors had something like 1000 hours of footage to check.

Maybe north-east just sounds better, but I agree with Manwe Sulimo that the editors probibly just had too much of Helm's Deep and Aragorn's dream sequences to deal with, plus Gollum.

Sorry--somebody should have caught it. With so many of the people working on the movie being fans of the book, it's weird to me that no one noticed it. I mean, look how many of us did.
As a bit of a perfectionist myself (it's annoying even to me ) this is the kind of thing that would drive me nuts had I been a part of the movie. It's like that silly typo (ie "hte" instead of "the") in the 100 page draft you swear you've checked a zillion times.

We only caught it 'cause it was the only thing that slipped out.
