Has anyone else noticed this???
It's creepy, but in the movie, EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER has blue eyes! Am I the only person who noticed. If so, I'm sorry for being weirdly obsessed. But if not, isn't it totally creepy?
|
Not every cast member has blue eyes. Sean Astin has brown eyes, John Rhys-Davies has brown eyes. I know Sean Bean and Viggo Mortenson have green. But most of them do have blue eyes. Yeah that is kind of wierd.

quote:
I'm sorry for being weirdly obsessed

No you're not wierdly obsessed. People who don't even really like the movies have noticed the blue eye thing. And hey! It's not a bad thing to be obsessed! I'm an obsessed fan all the way and I'm not ashamed of it either!
[ April 01, 2003: Message edited by: Firondoiel ]

weird. dont forget my baby, Orlando. hes got wonderfully brown eyes. or were you talking aboot the characters as like frodo and stuff in the movie (not in real life). its weird anyway.
|
But see, everyone must have been given contacts or something. But I just remembered, Christopher Lee had brown eyes in the movie. . .but I swear everyone else had blue eyes (at least on screen)!

. . .either that or I'm insane. . .

quote:
Orlando. hes got wonderfully brown eyes

I know! I LOVE his brown eyes! Is there anywhere in the books that say all the elves have blue eyes?
|
Sounds like a movie topic.
Moving there.
|
Yeah, I noticed, and everyone else I mentioned it too went "Who cares?"
quote:
hes got wonderfully brown eyes.

In real life he does...if you haven't noticed, in some of the scenes in the movies he wears blue contacts, in some he doesn't. A wonderful magical property of the eyes of the Elves.
|
Boromir's eyes are green, if memory serves. I don't think they had Sean Bean wearing contacts for his role.
|
Does anyone else get the creeps when Elija Wood gives you that "hopeless" stare, and his huge BLUE eyes bulge out at you?!
Himaran
|
Blue-eyed Ents. Blue-eyed Orcs. Oh, and wait, the Balrog had...blue wings!
I think you just must like blue eyes, hon. Therefore, you notice them more.
|
The blue eye thing is kinda creepy. Oh well I hardly look anyone or thing in the eyes anyway.
|
i hate blue eyes. mmm... viggo eyes...
what colour eyes did Grima have? blue?
and were treebeard's red or yellow?
and what colour eyes did Faramir have?
|

quote:
I know Sean Bean and Viggo Mortenson have green.

Viggo has BLUE eyes!!! He has the purdiest eye ever!!!! In many scenes, it may look like he has brown or green eyes because of the lighting. But I'm telling you, HE HAS BLUE EYES!!!!
...yeah. I'm okay. *breathe in, breathe out*
|

quote:
i hate blue eyes.

Heck. *runs away, sobbing*
|
Once again, this is all very simple.
Lush = Blue Eyes, Cool = Lush. When we apply rudimentary algebra skills, we come up with: Blue Eyes = Cool.
This concept is wide-spread enough for the filmmakers to have been aware of it. Voila: the coolest characters in the movie have blue eyes. Hope this helped.
|
Lol! *sniffs* Now I feel better...
|

quote:
Orlando. hes got wonderfully brown eyes
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I know! I LOVE his brown eyes!
quote:
Voila: the coolest characters in the movie have blue eyes.

... so, you're saying Boromir isn't cool?
I think Treebeard's eyes were yellow.
Faramir's eyes are green, I think.
|

quote:
Blue Eyes = Cool

YAY!! Go me! I feel much better now *cough*Meela*cough*

quote:
... so, you're saying Boromir isn't cool?

Well... uhhhh... actually... *scratches head*

quote:
Well... uhhhh... actually... *scratches head*

Blasphemy.

Rrrrrrr! That makes up for your blasphemy! Anyway, go back to your topic, citizens.

ok... Lotr thread...
How many eye colours did Tolkien actually make reference to?
For instance, did Aragorn really have blue/green eyes?
And Legolas. Apparently he was dark haired. Did Tolkien state that he had brown eyes to match? Or blue? or no eyes at all?
Do the elves have an eye colour? Like, the different colonies have different hair colours. Does the same thing happen for eyes, or do they relate to hair colour, liek blue/blonde, brown/brown?
|
WHOA!
Okay. Legolas was SUPPOSED to have blonde hair. But, the books said nothing in reference to the eye colour. It's just that I thought it was kinda disturbing when I saw it, that's all!
|
Frodo, Gandalf, and Galadriel definitely had blue eyes, and were definitely all ring bearers, Elrond might have. Aragorn's eyes had to serve as 'grey' (as in grey like a king's eyes), blue was about as close as they could get, seemingly. Arwen's were blue. Yeah, all the characters that it showed the eyes of up close were blue. Cool.
|

quote:
Okay. Legolas was SUPPOSED to have blonde hair.

Does it say that in the books? A lot of people say he's supposed to have dark hair. Could you tell me where it says he has blonde hair?
|
It doesn't say for sure what hair colored, but many people believe he has blond hair. I also think that he has blond hair, but then again, there are also many people who think that he had dark hair.
|
Not the Legolas hair color discussion aain...please...

When the Fellowships in Lorien, my sister always says loudly(in our house) "they've all got blue eyes". I think it might have something to do with the lighting of Lorien.
But here's something which I think fits here
quote:
In the scene before the battle of Helm's Deep when Legolas is arguing with Aragorn, his eyes are brown, rather than blue. [In the book, elves' eyes turn brown when they are distressed. Since they are about to fight, it would make sense that Legolas' eyes are brown.]

I read this and thought 'what! I don't remember reading that anywhere!' Does anyone know where this comes from? Personally I think Orli forgot his contacts.
|
The only eye color I know for sure is that Viggo actually has very beautiful eyes, Its almost a blue grey ( gorgeous) and the Numenoreans are described by thier grey eyes.
As for Elves some times the context of 'fair' means light hair and light eyes. I hope this helps you.
Oh yes one more thing.I love Sean Beans green eyes, cause I have green eyes too!! thanks for the EYE CANDY!!It was SWEEEET!!!! -(~<~> Yavanna
