the third finger

Ok, which finger was it????? Was it the middle finger or the ring finger? Cause counting from the thumb, it would be the middle, but counting from the pointer it would be the ring finger! Oh, help! Which is it???
(I think it's the middle finger...)

I always thought it was the ring finger but I could be wrong.

It could be the middle, because, counting from the pinkie it's also the middle finger.

Well, since Gollum bit off the finger with the ring on it.... chances are Frodo put it on his ring finger. Hence, his missing finger is probly the ring finger.

If you don't count the thumb as a finger, the ring finger is the third finger.

Why is it important which finger it was?

Raefindel 07-08-2002 09:43 AM

At weddings they say to put the ring on the 3rd finger. Thus I've always believed Frodo wore the ring on his ring finger.

I always thought it was on his first finger because that would be the one that's most accessible when you're in a hurry.

Ok, i guess that clears it up. But it was always a joke with me, "Frodo's caught in traffic, but can't show anything for it," lol. Ok, anyways. It seems logical to count from the pointer...
