FotR question
Hello People! I realize that it might seem odd to be discussing the FotR movie now, but I had was wondering....
Near the beginning of the movie where Gandalf and Frodo are discussing the history of the Ring, and what should be done with it, Frodo says

quote:
But he was destroyed. Sauron was destroyed.

A sound is then heard from the Ring, sounding a bit like "I hear you'. Then Gandalf continues;

quote:
No, Frodo. The spirit of Sauron endured. His life force is bound to the Ring, and the Ring survived. Sauron has returned.

My question; what did the Ring say?

I know this may not answer your question, but I know a lot of what they had The Ring say was Black Speach. It could have been that and only sounded like "I hear you".
H.C.

Try watching it with the subtitles on. Worth a try!

I'm pretty sure at one point, the Ring comes right out with it and says: "Evil!" I could be wrong, though. At The Prancing Pony, Sauron says "I see you," in true 80s horror movie fashion. I like the way the Ring talks, especially in Rivendell where It chooses not to listen to anyone and just starts with its little "Ash Nazg gimpatūl" chant. Maybe It went a little bananas when Gollum had It.

Oh, I agree totally! I really like the way the ring talks, and how ominous it looks on the icy chain when Boromir holds it at Caradhras, and how it thuds to the floor and "sticks" when Bilbo drops it in bag End! The ring is a cool character! Kind of helps make up for Sauron being a "Giant Eyeball" Ha ha!
