Movie Merchandise
Just had a wander around some shops today and got my first look at some movie merchandise. I saw a Ringwraith on horseback, as well as Gandalf and Saruman figures. I also spotted an Orc Overseer and the infamous Lurtz. The Ringwraith was quite impressive, but the other stuff looked cheap and nasty.
Has anyone seen any other stuff and if so, what did you think?
(I rarely like to post out of topic, but this is one case where it is certainly necessary )
Taimar!!
The action figures may look nice, but what would surely keep me from buying even the better ones are the traits made for the youngest customers - sword-swinging action, Frodo who can look pale and sick after pressing a button, etc...
Some of the action figures can be nice butI think most are messed up. I haven't seen many of them but the ones I have seen are kool but I'm waiting to see what all they actually make.
How many different Elven ones do they have out? Just Arwen and Legolas?
Elrian, your ghostly little icon looks 'hauntingly' familiar.
Yes, Elrian, that is not very classy.
-rêd
In NZ the heads of Lurtz and whatnot are selling for $120. Does that seem overpriced to anybody? In a few years they will be sold like old Star Wars figurines. DoI for one won't buy anything.
I agree that the LOTR toys are not a good idea. It will cheapen the image in my opinian. Thats one of the reasons I respect what the makers of the Harry Potter movies. They're not allowing any images of Harry Potter on merchandise, and no action-toys. I think thats cool. Has anyone else read Harry Potter, or is planning on seeing the Harry Potter movie coming out soon?
Never, ever. Not if I was paid to. I am naturally suspicious of anything as popular as Harry Potter, especially with kids who have no experience with real books. Remember Goosebumps....? Erg!
The have Lego Harry Potter stuff out. And Lego will probably make LotR sets when it is all over and done with too. But then Lego isn't as bad as Hasbro.
I didn't trust Harry Potter either, but one of my friends basically shoved the first one on me. I was rather surprised how much I liked it, I mean, they're kids books, and the school setting is annoying, but its good.
Harry Potter's setting is quiet interesting. I think the idea of a Magic Monestary that teachers magic is an original concept that hasn't been raped by the media like all other good ideas. Ehhh, lets see where this Harry Potter f00 goes.

Thanks! Now if I could have gotten the other one some shades and a cigarette it really would have been cool

Today at the supermarket, I simply couldn't resist buying three kids surprise eggs. And I already got my first little Legolas!
You lucky dog! (or should i say green, scary cat!?) I'm going to have my wife's sister send me a bunch of those!

Of course, if you're going for a complete set, it is easier and cheaper to buy it at ebay. But that is far less exciting, you would miss all the childish suspense and joy.
A tip for the pros, btw: weighing the eggs in the fruits section raises the chances of getting miniatures since they are a bit heavier And I have to say that I like it that the standard of the merchandise - even here - is pretty high (see the set here).
