Giggle

I think it would be funny if we made up personal ads for LOTR characters, like:

SWM, smoker, looking for a female who
doesn't mind playing with fire. Have two
sons, one off on a quest of some sort. Am
"ruler" of an ages old city, and hope you
don't mind towers.

Who is it?

Frodo Baggins 05-05-2002 03:23 PM

Hmmmm... Is it Denethor???

Elenya 05-05-2002 03:31 PM

Why, yes it is! Would you like to post one?

VanimaEdhel 05-05-2002 04:57 PM

Can I do one?

Okay:

SWM, son of an Elf mother and a Human father, wants to find a girl that wants to be the first mortal ruler of a certain people with him. Must have long life span and be able to put up with corrupt men, as many Numenoreans became such. If interested, call (555)178-5464 [(555)1ST-KING]

OR, if you prefer:

SW?(I don't know)M, evil god, desires a girl that does not mind spending all eternity in the Void with him. Must enjoy torture, slaughter, and evil offspring. If interested, call (555)426-3845 [(555)IAM-EVIL].

Heehee: I love coming up with phone numbers!

Elenya 05-05-2002 05:57 PM

Hmm, these are tricky.

For the second one, I'd have to say Sauron?
And the first one? Oh gosh, I don't know!

I'll try another one:

SWM? looking for a demonic companion who
enjoys long fights on a bridge, and
attempting to kill wrinkly old wizards.
fire a must, and wings are okay. If
interested, call (555)468-5683 [(555)HOT-LOVE

This one should be fairly easy, and Van, thanks for the phone # idea!

Joy 05-05-2002 08:47 PM

Vanima - is the first one Elrond???

I'll come back and post one soon.

Aosama, the Wandering Star 05-05-2002 08:50 PM

Vanima, is that first one Aragorn? That's who it sounds like to me...

Auriel Haevasawen 05-06-2002 03:13 PM

This is fantastic, unfortuneately it's going to take me days to think of one so I can join in. Hold on, I'll be back.

Elenya 05-07-2002 02:58 PM

Hey guys, you don't have to wait until you've gotten one right to post! If you've got an ad, post it!

The Barrow-Wight 05-07-2002 03:05 PM

SADM, seeking everlasting companions to share roomy, richly adorned space. Enjoy endless nights of romantic encantations in a glowing environment. EWYB need not apply.

Figure out WHO I am and what the acronyms stand for! I dare ya!

Elenya 05-07-2002 03:21 PM

Golly gee whiz!! This one is really hard. Barrow-Wight, I have a question. Does your ad apply to a person or an object? I might have an idea, but I'm not really sure.

The Barrow-Wight 05-07-2002 05:50 PM

The ad is for a 'person'.

VanimaEdhel 05-07-2002 06:08 PM

The one that seeks "companion on bridge" that Elenya spoke of was the Balrog I know...and the first one I did was Elros, Elrond's brother (close whoever said Elrond).

And the second I meant to be Morgoth/Melkor. Both are from The Silmarillion.

Elenya 05-08-2002 02:50 PM

I'm still puzzled by this, but does SADM stand for Single and Dead Male?

Auriel Haevasawen 05-08-2002 03:20 PM

I think I've finally got one, it might be pants but here goes...

Fiesty young female, into horse riding, sword weilding and ambition. Seeks lord, king or governor type to sweep off feet when feeling under the weather. Non-heroic men need not apply.

...painfully obvious isn't it? Sorry, it's a start I guess.

Joy 05-08-2002 11:05 PM

Auriel is yours Eowyn?

As for the Barrow's - I'd say either the Barrow-Wright or the Witch King of Angmar. But I can't figure out the acronyms.

Sorry guys, I can't think of a singel one!

Elenya 05-09-2002 03:09 PM

Yup, I'm still stumped by the Barrow's.

Auriel Haevasawen 05-09-2002 04:20 PM

Yes, it's Eowyn. That Barrows, I bet it's someone from the Sil.

Thinhyandoiel 05-09-2002 10:39 PM

Barrow-Wight that's hard!! >.< I'll have to think about that one. Urgh. But I have one for y'all!

SWF looking for eternal mate to share Forest with. Must be wise and able to handle responsibilities that come with title. No ring necessary. Love of peace & long-lasting solitude is required.

Mmm..okay, that was a bit easy. Oh well! I tried! This is fun!

The Barrow-Wight 05-10-2002 05:14 AM

Mine was Barrow-Wight, of course! wtg.

SADM = Single Armless (or Amputee) Dead Male ...you were so close!

EWYB = Enigma with Yellow Boots.
I admit that one was very cryptic.

Eruhen 05-10-2002 05:50 AM

Thinhyandoiel, I think that yours is Galadriel. I'm not smart enough to think up a personal ad, so someone else can take my spot here.

Elenya 05-10-2002 03:43 PM

Yeah, I think it's Galadriel too, It would make sense: Forest, title, you know.

Lush 05-11-2002 12:15 PM

SWF, enjoys spontaneous singing and sneaking off on life-threatening quests. ISO SWM who doesn't mind having his own life threatened by jealous relatives.

Nevtalathiel 05-11-2002 12:52 PM

What do all the abbreviations stand for? I don't understand them, so working out the people and making up new ads is kinda hard

Lush 05-11-2002 01:58 PM

If you want to know what the abbreviations mean, open the back of any local paper. Most of them have a legend to go with the ads. Now...Why do I know this?

Nevtalathiel 05-12-2002 02:29 AM

Thanks Lush, I'll get to work!

Joy 05-12-2002 12:29 PM

Lush, is your's Lùthien Tinùviel looking for a man like Beren??

Thinhyandoiel 05-12-2002 06:09 PM

Yep! Mine was Galadriel, looking for Celeborn. Darn, y'all are good! I'ma think of more. Hehe.

Elenya 05-13-2002 07:02 PM

Hey Thin, where are you from in Canada, eh?

Thinhyandoiel 05-13-2002 09:38 PM

Edmonton, Alberta. Why?

Ooh! Here's one! (easy as heck)

SWM. Attractive. 150/20 vision. Have been away for the last year on special secret mission down south. Looking for special someone to share new dominion near Minas Tirith. Must love the sea.

Nevtalathiel 05-14-2002 10:55 AM

Legloas?

Thinhyandoiel 05-14-2002 03:17 PM

Darn. Well, I said it was easy as heck didn't I? LoL! Yeah, it's Legolas...guess it kinda gave it away that his pic was right next to the ad, eh? LOL!

Elenya 05-14-2002 05:22 PM

I was curious because I am a Canadian myself. Originally from Nova Scotia, soon to be New Brunswick. I've never been to Alberta, though I really want to see it, and the mall.

Elenya 05-17-2002 04:55 PM

SW?F ISO SW?M who enjoys dark tunnels and webs. Hate of light a must.

VanimaEdhel 05-18-2002 05:19 PM

That would be Shelob, yes?

I assume so.

Hmmm...
SWME (Single White Male Elf) searching for SWEM (Single White Elf Maiden). Must love dangerous horseback rides to save hobbits. Must not mind being left out of the movie no matter how unfair it is (that just gave it away)!

Joy 05-18-2002 06:03 PM

Vanima, Your's is Glorfindel! How I missed seeing him in the movie.

Speaking of this, I had a dream that I was sitting down in the valley of Rivendell and I saw PJ there. Several of the Elves were asking him why he left Glorfy out. Weird, huh??

Galadriel55 10-29-2010 02:57 PM

I guess PJ thought that the movie would be too long and complicated if he would add another character. Well, it is a movie, not a book - that's why I mostly prefer the latter one - and leaving out Glorfindel is nothing compared to ruining Faramir.
