quoting lines

I use lines from the movies all the time in everyday life, sometimes they just fit really well, and sometimes... well, something makes me think of a line and I start quoting it whether it fits the situation ot not. So I thought we could all put down ways we incorporate lines into our everyday lives, and maybe some humorous situations that came out of it.
For instance, yesterday I found some coupons for a seafood resturaunt, and it had a picture of a plate of fish and chips. So I start going, 'lovely big golden chips with a nice piece of fried fish.' Every time I hear the word potatoes, I say, 'PO-TA-TOES! Boil 'em, mash em, stich em in a stew.' I also say taters sometimes instead of potatoes, them go on to say the potoato line. And every time I hear the word jelly, I have to say, 'or sit on us all, and squash us like jelly!' There are many more I use, but there a few to start with.

Oh, me and my friends do that ALL the time...especially the potatoes thing... our non LOTR friends have learnt not to mention the following for fear of sparking random quotes:

* Potatoes (duh)
* Chips
* Ropes (It freeezes! Its burns uss it doess!)
* Fissssshh
* Mushrooms
*Carrots (lol THE carrot from the cassie claire diaries!)
* And of course, Rings, and many MANY other things....

Here are some more:
Tomatoes always sparks 'tomatoes, sausages, and nice crispy bacon.'
I like to say, 'But what about breakfast?'
And Pip's 'Where are we going?' (with the accent, of course)
I like to say 'There is still hope'
And every time I say something is mine, I can't help but follow with 'my own... my precious.'
And things have become 'tricksy' instead of tricky

EDIT: yay!!! I'm a ghost prince!!! Although technically I'd be a princess...

I once got ratty with someone who tried to give me orders, and yelled at them: "I will not step down to be the dotard chamberlain of an upstart!"

"Get thee gone, and take thy due place!" can often be heard when someone's irritating me.

And you are so right about the food thing. Every time I cook bacon I always cackle like a maniac and say "Tomatoes, sausages..." and then shout out "NICE CRISPY BACON!"

*snork* Good one, Meela!

My standard quote is "What is this new devilry?" To be heard whenever I get a new homework assignment. I fully intend to start using some of the ones you guys mentioned though! Thanks for the ideas!

When I get a huge homework assignment:

"Why do you lay these troubles on an already troubled mind?"

When my uncle was cooking a fish:

"Stupid fat hobbit! Spoiling nice fish... Give it to us raw, and wriggling! You keep nasty chips!" (I then threw a bag of potato chips at him)

When I was eating potatoes and my cousin (who looks like Gollum, by the way) asked me, "What's that?":

"Po-tay-toes! Fry 'em, mash 'em, stick 'em in a stew..."

When my sister was being a snot about me losing a game:

"Your time will come."

When someone really ticks me off:

"Idiot! Go and be a toy!"
(OK, it's not LotR, but it is Tolkien!)

hehehe, quoting is so fun!

I just start squealing, "It freezes! It burns!!" for no reason at all. *dodges weird looks*

My sis just asked me to check that the cat hadn't done anything in the bathroom & I replied, "Nothing. There's nothing."

How very convenient...
(Didn't Bilbo say that in the Hobbit cartoon?)

THE Ka 11-05-2003 09:02 PM

Okay to first to start off the Ka's dad is the boss of his own seafood company and runs it as well. Anyway to make a point, i have been introduced to the many fabulous sea delicasies since an early age. When i first saw the FOTR, the water creature at the enterance of moria made my mouth water... that was a BIG octapus! and when Legolas, Aragorn ( abd lets not forget the Ka's favorite, Boromir) cut the thing up i almost cried! "no! no!" i thought why where they destorying such wonderful octapus! I was enraged.

So, that night as you might have guessed, i ate no other than sushi and octapus( made by yours truly). And when i ate this i thought no other than the water watcher and Gollum!

Later on, when i watched the TT i remembered what gollum said :

" Stupid Hobbit! your ruining the fishhhhhh! give it to us raw!"

Now every time my friend i eat fish and as with most people, it is cooked. so my friend will remind me the oh so wonderful lines and so one night at her house i said very angerly " Stupid Hobbit! your ruining the fishhhhhhhhhhhhhesssssss! give it to us raw!"

This will throw my friend into fits of laughter and keep others guessing. And if you are wondering, my friend is sort of a hobbit herself: short, quiet round, and has big feet.

Forget it. i know what else you want to know. and the answers no... I am NOT telling anyone who i resemble. I already did in another message. (hint: Crazy captions the picture with boromir, Denethor, people , GUY WITH CUP IN BACKGROUND , ect.)

ok, i'm done flapping my big mouth...

" I shall make the ryme the reason", " I shall makethe future, i shall define goodness, i shall define peace!" Akasha said with a trace of anger.

You won't be getting any weird looks from me!! I do stuff like that all the time. I start saying, 'Stupid, fat, hobbit!' to my computer when it acts stupid. (yes, I know, it's a computer, not a hobbit) And I'll walk through the house quoting lines for the fun of it. And ya know how you get songs stuck in your head? I do that with passages from the movie, too. Especially Arwen's elvish lines. I'll keep repeating it over, and over, and over...

Nehani 11-05-2003 11:07 PM

Well, you see, I have a house with a lot a places for things to go missing in. So whenever I am searching madly for something, I start acting like Gollum (complete with the gollum, gollumgollum, gollum)and "my preciousssss". When things get desperate, I go into "there is still hope". I love "stupid fat hobbit". And whenever my friend does something good for me, I go up to them and pet them on the shoulder and say "master is good to us. She is good to us!" ahhhhh....what fun! must go eat po-ta-toe soup now.
