Spring cleaning and reorganization

A new forum has been created: NOVICES AND NEWCOMERS
The polls and other general question topics from THE BOOKS were moved into it. The new forum was established to give people unfamiliar with the board a chance to talk Tolkien without getting all technical like many of us love to do.

I've also moved the site announcement topics that I had put in THE BOOKS back into THE BARROW-DOWNS where they belong.

Sorry for any confusion this may cause.

I like the new organization. The new forum will be a little more inviting for those not steeped in Tolkien lore.

The new forum is a great idea to get those who are not as familiar with Tolkien to contribute without being totally overwhelmed. I am sure that this will bring in more and more people to the forum. Yay!!! <img src=tongue.gif ALT=":b">

So is the Books basically for in-depth discussion of the books, whereas Newcomers is for more vaguely Tolkien stuff (ie: reason for nickname, favourite character)?

Yeah.... loosley defined difference between the two, but the new forum is for ppl to post and not worry about ppl writing a novel for an answer or expecting them to be perfect with their info.

Aggh. Since the re-org, I can't stop posting. Make it stop.

It is more inviting. Lets one get up a head of steam in the new section
and then come roaring out into the other ones.
