Grave Matters

Have a question? Need advice? Require a second opinion? Ask Grave Matters.

Iarwain 05-10-2003 09:23 PM

Wonderful idea, BW! Very fun.

I'm going to think of one right away.

Iarwain

Diamond18 05-10-2003 09:54 PM

Huh. Scare me why don't ya. I thought this was going to be something like "Due to direct linking, I am being sued by [insert website] for everything I own. Donations can be sent to..."

Question:
You don't have to be a BD member to participate, right? So when you say name or nickname, that doesn't mean forum screenname? It can be anything? Forgive me, I took stupid pills just a moment ago. They told me it was jelly beans, but now I realize the folly of my ways. I just want to make sure...

The X Phial 05-10-2003 10:20 PM

It can be whatever, Diamond, but that's a good question. Just know that whatever nickname you sign with will be printed.

Scott 05-11-2003 11:13 AM

This may have been answered elsewhere in this barrow, but I haven't seen the answer yet...
When is the languages forum going to be reopened? Is it still pending on the arrival of an expert to moderate it?

VanimaEdhel 05-11-2003 02:07 PM

Diamond18: I had the same reaction of going "EEP!"...then I decided it may be a pun with the word "Grave", as we are "dead" here. I thought maybe it was a general discussion of what needs improvement here (EDIT: including my typing skills).

I think we should set up a 12-step teenybopper program to de-Orlando, de-Elijah, de-Liv, or de-Cate them. You have to go through the program whether you are addicted or not, then you can Chat.

Hey, is this thread dead already?

GaladrieloftheOlden 05-15-2003 03:44 PM

Wow, that's... strange. I don't believe I will yet send in a question of my own, but would be very interested to see those of others

Sophia the Thunder Mistress 05-15-2003 04:23 PM

Scott- You're on the wrong thread, my friend, for that sort of question. But I don't believe the language forum is coming in for reopening anytime soon, though I'm not an expert and could easily be wrong.

As for Grave Matters, BW, I think it sounds fun, but I don't really understand what its about? I think some of Diamond's stupid pills must have rolled across to my barrow. (I thought they were tic tacs )

Carlas 05-15-2003 08:44 PM

Just one question for you dear BW, where exactly will the chosen questions be posted?

Helkahothion 05-16-2003 01:34 PM

Question on the way

Who is in the answering panel?

The Barrow-Wight 05-16-2003 02:55 PM

The first group of questions will be answered in the next day or so. The panel is a variety of Middle-earth characters. You never know who might answer.

The Barrow-Wight 05-16-2003 08:17 PM

We have gotten back a few replies from Middle-earth: Grave Matters - 16 May 2003.

This amuses me far more than it really should. Hrmm... I think I'll try one for next time. *Scurries off to ask something*

Yavanna228 05-16-2003 08:25 PM

::applause:: Hurrah! Great job, BW and whoever else. That was excellent! I especially liked Feanor's answer.
Peace

we've just eaten the elf and the humans anyway. There's no need to choose between us because we're going to fight over you anyway. You can have the survivor, which will be me, and we'll eat the runners up to celebrate. How does that sound?
Wow! Who needs 'Dear Abby' with Uglúk around...

Katt b 05-16-2003 09:15 PM

I'm not even sure if I should be posting this here but I need help I don't know whats going on I'm new ...HELP!!!!!

The X Phial 05-16-2003 09:40 PM

OFF TOPIC
Katt b - This thread is for the discussion of the site feature known as "Grave Matters." I'm not sure what it is you don't understand, but you can pm me or any one of the mods with questions. Also, read the FAQ in the Novices and Newcomers thread.

ON TOPIC
I would like to thank the Gaffer, Feanor, and Ugluk for giving so graciously of their time and knowledge.

The X Phial 05-18-2003 06:34 PM

A new Grave Matters is up here

Sophia the Thunder Mistress 05-18-2003 06:45 PM

Oh My! (The stupid pills seem to have worn off...) BW this is hillarious:

Was that supposed to be a joke, or did you feel that somebody would *really* try something like that?

Iarwain 05-18-2003 07:15 PM

I still love the idea, and I thought those were quite laughable, especially Smeagol's response. I'm slightly dissapointed that mine wasn't up there...

Goodness, Iarwain, I am sure that they are swamped with questions.

Most likely they have to choose the treasures blindly in the dark of their barrow.

On the other hand, does Tom need the attention of the wights? I wouldn't think so.

I'm sure they are, Bethburry. I suppose I shouldn't be rude... I just hoped that someone with, um, influence might come in contact with that post *hint, hint, nudge, nudge*.

Helkahothion 05-19-2003 06:30 AM

Yay, my question is answered. I loved the riddle. Maybe I should send in one that has no answer. Oh I know it now Nah let's not do it. Gollum will get confused.

Tinuviel Took 05-20-2003 04:44 AM

I agree, they are hilarious! Particularly the thought of ANYONE leting Feanor give advice on younger sibblings. We Love Treebeard! Go Treb! Go Treb!

Lyra Greenleaf 05-21-2003 12:04 PM

I'm not surprised poor old Bordarigorn has no time for homework, what with rescuing Anuion, hanging around with potatoes...
It's a really good idea! Go BW!

The Barrow-Wight 05-25-2003 08:49 AM

Grave Matters #3 has been published.

Helkahothion 05-25-2003 08:55 AM

HAHA, saruman the many coloured about fashion. Perfect! I could not agree with him. Taste is personel and you should not worry about it. I say that everybody that has a problem with your taste, should mind their own business. What do they know right?

Suilad,

Anuion

The Barrow-Wight 07-13-2003 02:42 PM

When we publish Grave Matters today, it will be the 10th edition!! We plan to continue this feature, so be sure to get your questions in soon for next week's Grave Matters.

The Squatter of Amon Rûdh 07-13-2003 04:27 PM

It's the tenth week already? My, how time flies when you're having fun. Since Grave Matters always has the answer, someone would have to be stark raving mad not to send in their questions.

Diamond18 07-13-2003 04:51 PM

I have been following the feature, and it's quite funny. Unfortunately I haven't been able to think of a question I want to submit, since the first week or so (and those were lame ). I have been eyeing up the Dear Abby and Carolyn Hax colums in the newspaper, though... Inspiration...

Yavanna228 07-13-2003 08:04 PM

Happy 10th edition, Grave Matters! I've found that the one from Maeglin was quite amusing, and the one from Legolas is a wonderful way to handle all the fangirls. I'll have to remember that...
Again, congratulations and good job!
Peace

Yes, I've followed them since the beggining, and I enjoy them very much! I love seeing my favorite characters answering questions, and the answers are quite funny! I just wanted to add that I loved today's Sam feature. Very satisfactory, if I do say so myself. And very clever, too, to make it so that Sam could legitimately answer every one! (If you follow me). I believe I've thought of a question. I shall send it in!

burrahobbit 09-08-2003 12:47 AM

I really liked the one today about being obsessed. I think I might write a letter this week.

Diamond18 09-16-2003 01:40 AM

I quite enjoyed Hurin's thoughts on boredom and torture this week. My compliments to whoever wrote that one up.

Bêthberry 09-16-2003 06:05 AM

Too funny that two characters replied to Wee-Willy. Might it have had something to do with his double Billing?

And hey Ted, look at that walking tree who stalked you. lol

Serendipidy doo dah. I really have to get a letter in myself.
