Who said this, where and why...

"I'm ready for anything"

Was it Pippin to Frodo, while they were leaving Bag End? Or Sam to Frodo at the same time? While they were beginnign their journey?

I have a few quotes that I need to know where they came from ...

Quote:

He who breaks a thing to find out what it is, has left the path of wisdom.
Quote:

But if you can only speak ill of those who showed you mercy, keep silent.
Quote:

Few can foresee whither their road will lead them till they come to its end.
Quote:

It is not our part to master all the tides of the world, but to do what is in us for the succour of those years wherein we are set, uprooting the evil in the fields we know, so that those who live after may have clean earth to till. What weather they shall have is not ours to rule.
Does anyone know who said any of these and where they can be found? Thanks!

The first one was said by Gandalf to Saruman when they were talking about Gandalf joining Saruman and Sauron.

The second was Frodo to Gollum about what Gollum said about Faramir's men.

The third was said by Elrond to the Fellowship right before they set off.

If you ever have quotes or questions you need answered Rochelle, feel free to PM me and I'll help! That's what a lot of people have been doing already.

The fourth was said by Gandalf to Aragorn's little war council before setting off to attack Mordor.

No.

The third is not Elrond. It was Legolas in Fangorn Forest, just before the appearance of Gandalf the White to the Three Hunters:

Quote:

'We have journeyed a long way round,' said Legolas. 'We could have all come here safe together, if we had left the Great River on the second or third day and struck west. Few can foresee whither their road will lead them, till they come to its end.'

Lady of the Lake, the second quote was by Morgan Le Fay in the movie Merlin, and the third was by the Lady of the Lake in the movie Merlin.
