What was the name of the king who along with his family was killed by a plauge out of Mordor?

ozzman 01-24-2002 04:29 AM

It was King Telemnar

Thingol 01-24-2002 10:00 AM

ozzman 01-25-2002 03:57 AM

How many years did Hyarmendacils reign last

Bruce MacCulloch 01-29-2002 06:38 PM

There were two Hyarmendacils of Gondor. The first was called Ciryaher. He ruled for 134 years (1015-1149).
Hyarmendacil II (Vinyarion) ruled from 1540 to 1621 (84 years).

Bruce MacCulloch 01-29-2002 07:37 PM

Oops, I meant the first was NAMED Ciryaher.

Bruce MacCulloch 02-05-2002 03:40 PM

OK - if no one speaks up and confirms my answer by tomorrow, I'm going to go ahead and ask the next question.

Telchar 02-06-2002 02:51 AM

Your answer is good Bruce (I checked) - you should proceed

Bruce MacCulloch 02-06-2002 03:36 AM

Which king rebuilt Minas Anor?

Androndo the Thoughtfull 02-06-2002 07:42 AM

If you mean when it changed name to Minas Tirith it was Elendil & Sons

Bruce MacCulloch 02-06-2002 09:26 PM

No - later than that. After it was rebuilt, the kings dwelt there in the summer rather than in Osgiliath.

Legolas 02-06-2002 10:07 PM

Ostoher, Seventh King of Gondor.

Bruce MacCulloch 02-07-2002 12:17 AM

That is correct, Legalos!

Legolas 02-07-2002 12:11 PM

Which king defeated the Corsairs?

Androndo the Thoughtfull 02-07-2002 02:20 PM

Thorongil... (Also known as Aragorn Elessar)

Legolas 02-07-2002 02:34 PM

Maybe I wasn't specific enough.

Who was the king who defeated the Corsairs and reclaimed Umbar?

It was before Aragorn. Aragorn's defeat(s) of the Corsairs were prior to his crowning.

Bruce MacCulloch 02-07-2002 03:56 PM

Was it Ciryaher? The one that was called Hyarmendacil the First?

Legolas 02-07-2002 04:04 PM

Nope.

Bruce MacCulloch 02-07-2002 04:39 PM

Aha!! It was Telumehtar!

Legolas 02-07-2002 04:44 PM

You are correct, sir. Proceed!

Bruce MacCulloch 02-07-2002 04:49 PM

Who was the first king slain by the Wainriders?

Meriadoc 02-07-2002 07:18 PM

I think that it was Narmacil II

Bruce MacCulloch 02-07-2002 07:23 PM

Correct, Meriadoc of the Shire and Holdwine of the Mark!
Your turn.

Snowdog 06-17-2004 11:33 AM

Kings of Arnor & Gondor

What King was slain on Amon Sūl, otherwise called Weathertop?

Nilpaurion Felagund 06-18-2004 12:05 AM

Yeah. I think so, too.

Arveleg?

Snowdog 06-21-2004 09:02 AM

*looks at judges...* "Have to be more specific."

NightKnight 06-22-2004 07:59 AM

Arveleg I, even.

Groin Redbeard 12-12-2007 05:29 PM

The Might 12-13-2007 07:42 AM

Groin Redbeard 12-13-2007 10:12 AM

Once again the Might proves his worth! The thread is yours.

The Might 12-13-2007 10:16 AM

Which king made it custom to live in Minas Anor in summer?

Nerwen 12-13-2007 05:47 PM

Ostoher.

The Might 12-14-2007 07:46 AM

Yep

Nerwen 12-14-2007 08:20 AM

How many Kings of Gondor shared names with Kings of Arnor?

Shards of Narsil 12-19-2007 08:41 AM

According to my research, there were two.

There was Eldacar son of Valacar in Gondor and Eldacar son of Valandil in Arnor.
Also, there was Tarondor son of Minastan in Gondor and Tarondor son of Tarcil in Arnor.

Nerwen 12-19-2007 08:45 AM

Welcome to the thread, Shards of Narsil.:)

Your turn.
