Slightly Easier Trivia

Alrighty then: Since almost all of you are deeper into Tolkien than I will ever be...I've decided to start my own trivia chain for those of us who don't have a clue what the other peoples(hobbits, dwarfs, elves, etc.) mean when they ask their impossible questions.

How many dwarfs accompanied Bilbo in The Hobbit? and name them!

Gimli Son Of Gloin 04-20-2002 11:34 AM

The names of the drawes are Thorin, Oin, Gloin, Dwalin, Balin, Bifur, Kili, Fili, Bofur, Dori, Bombur, Nori, Ori, and there are 13.

Gimli Son Of Gloin 04-20-2002 11:36 AM

Knowing that I'm right, i'll go right ahead with my question.

By what name do the people of Gondor refer to Gandalf?

Telchar 04-20-2002 02:14 PM

*Giggles*

Arwen Imladris 04-20-2002 02:26 PM

Mithrandir

Is that right?

If it is then my question is: What is Pippin's last name?

The_Elf_Girl 04-20-2002 05:26 PM

Pippin's last name is Took.

KingCarlton 04-21-2002 12:22 AM

Arwen Imladris - you were incorrect.

Incánus is Gandalf’s name in the south(Gondor) of Middle-earth.

Mithrandir is the Elven name for Gandalf.

Voronwe 04-21-2002 04:35 AM

No, she was correct. If you want a quote I can provide one.

KingCarlton 04-21-2002 04:44 AM

Just one qoute....let's hear it then.

Voronwe 04-21-2002 09:54 AM

Quote:

'Mithrandir we called him in elf-fashion,' said Faramir, 'and he was content. Many are my names in many countries, he said. Mithrandir among the Elves, Tharkûn to the Dwarves; Olórin I was in my youth in the West that is forgotten, in the South Incánus, in the North Gandalf; to the East I go not.'
It is possible, depending on which version of a note found in Unfinshed Tales that you wish to believe, that Incánus was a Quenya name of Gandalf's in Gondor about 1800 years before the Lord of the Rings. However it is also possible that it is a word in the language of Harad meaning 'North-spy'. In any case it seems clear from Faramir's statement that Mithradir was Gandalf's name in Gondor at the time of the Lord of the Rings.

After all that, I believe it's The_Elf_Girl's turn to ask a question.

The_Elf_Girl 04-21-2002 04:21 PM

This is a really easy one but I'm so tired I can't come up with anything else. Sorry.

What is the name of Sam's first daughter?

Arwen Imladris 04-21-2002 07:33 PM

Ha Ha! I was right!

Elanor (Sp?) One of the flowers from Lothlorien.

Was I right?

If I was then the next question is:
How old was Bilbo when Frodo was 33?

KingCarlton 04-22-2002 02:35 AM

Allright, I stand corrected...but I am not going to sulk.
I wonder what happened to the one who posed that question.

Bilbo was 111 at the time Frodo was 33.
Eleventy one(or is it eleventy eleven) as those insipid fools called it.

well...???

Arwen Imladris 04-22-2002 02:09 PM

right! next question?

KingCarlton 04-23-2002 12:15 AM

Who was Bullroarer ?

Elenya 04-23-2002 03:56 PM

He was Bandobras Took and it was his admiring nickname!

Where is the Sea-of Rhun?

Lindolirian 04-23-2002 04:11 PM

The Sea of Rhun is in the East kinda north of Mordor and south of the Iron Hills. The River Running flows into it.

Lindolirian 04-25-2002 02:32 PM

o right gee almost forgot.... just kidding i DID forget.... a question!!!! hahaha okay i'm an idiot..... never mind here goes:

What was the first thing stolen from Smaug's horde of treasure?

i'm tryin to be easy here....

Arwen Imladris 04-28-2002 02:14 PM

A cup, I think it was a golden cup with two handles. Bilbo stole it.

Was I correct?

If I was the next question is where is Legolas from?

Lindolirian 04-28-2002 03:13 PM

Very Good! your turn

Arwen Imladris 05-01-2002 02:51 PM

where is Legolas from?

Lindolirian 05-01-2002 04:33 PM

He is from the Elven Realm of Thranduil in North eastern Mirkwood also know as Greenwood the Great.

Arwen Imladris 05-04-2002 07:01 PM

Yup, Lindolirian you are correct! Your turn!

Lindolirian 05-04-2002 07:08 PM

Lindolirian 05-05-2002 02:56 PM

Good Job, Lomelindi! It's your turn.

Elenya 05-05-2002 03:26 PM

Just popping in to see how everythings going! Really surprised to see that this took off. I'd offer a question, but it's not my turn to ask!

Elenya 05-05-2002 04:02 PM

Screw the whole "It's not my turn" thing, I'm getting impatient. Alright: How does Eowyn kill the King of the Nazgul?

Gimli Son Of Gloin 05-05-2002 04:22 PM

With the help of Merry, they slaughter him with their swords during the battle of Pelenor Fields.

Lómelindi 05-05-2002 05:56 PM

Alright, whatever. Anyways, here's my question that should have been asked:

What happens to Merry and Pippin after they drink Ent-draught?

Flittermouse 05-05-2002 08:26 PM

If you mean the effects of the Ent draught, they grew taller, stronger and grew thicker hair.

Lómelindi 05-05-2002 08:28 PM

Affirmative! Your turn to post a question, Flittermous.

Flittermouse 05-06-2002 02:26 PM

What is displayed on the banner of Rohan?

Lindolirian 05-06-2002 02:27 PM

A white horse on a green background.... just like the pic above!

Elenya 05-06-2002 02:52 PM

Flittermouse 05-06-2002 04:48 PM

Lindolirian 05-06-2002 07:07 PM
