I'd rather be a noldo, because they suffered most of all the elves........besides they r valiant &amp; they were most skilled

I'm going with the Noldor, simply because they learned so much over the ages, and they are more tragic, fitting with my personality.

Oh how easy it would be to choose to be numbered among the Vanyar and live countless years in peaceful bliss at the feet of the Valar. But that is not the life for me, for I love the Noldor. I would want to feel that unquenchable thirst for knowledge and desire for greatness. And I would be of the House of Feanor, for my hair is dark and my eyes are light, and my spirit burns like fire! <img src=devil.gif ALT=":evil">

I would choose the elves at seaside....no contest. To be an elf on the beach...not a terrible life...

I'd be of the Noldor because they are valiant and daring and although they defied the Valar they brought much good to Middle Earth and without them Sauron would probably have become the Lord of Middle Earth! [img]smilies/smile.gif[/img]

*sigh* where is the rest of my Silvan brethren? we seem out-numbered these days..

I forget which is the Elves that live in the trees in secrecy- the Silvan?- I'm not sure, but that's the Elves I would want to be.

I'd love to be a Telerian elf.... living by the sea, playing sea music on a pipe..(On my flute [img]smilies/smile.gif[/img] ). But I'd be ANY kind of elf if I got the chance [img]smilies/biggrin.gif[/img]

Noldor of Gondolin? Why choose to be an elf in a place that you knew was certain to meet its doom?

Anyway, I'd want to be of the Vanyar, or at least a part of the Noldor who live under Finarfin or a part of the Teleri who live under Olwe.

Oooh, probably half Teleri, half Silvan. You have the best of both worlds; affinities with both nature and the sea.

Probably one of the jolly old childish elves in Rivendell (Sindar, I think), or one of the great elves of Doriath...

You know me: I have to find "real" answers...well: I went to selectsmart.com because they have a "Tolkien Elven Race" selector...and I got (in this order):

1. Laiquendi (Green Elves)
2. Silvan (Wood Elves)
3. Teleri (Sea Elves)
4. Vanyar (what selectsmart.com called the "Fair Elves")
5. Gwaitl-i-Mirdain
6. Nandor
7. Noldor (they call them the "Deep Elves")
8. Sindar (Grey Elves)
9. Eldar (West Elves)
10. Falathrim
11. Galadhrim
12. Avari (East Elves)

Hmm, I'll go for Vanyar. All they did was hang out in the Blessed Realm, right? That has to be a laugh. :D

Remember Blackadder 2 though.... the Vanyar are a bit too "goody-two-shoes" for me .... maybe not rebellious enough for me? :p But I have no manual dexterity so that rules out the Noldor. Probably has to be the Teleri because I love singing and living by the sea and might learn to embrace my greying hair and stop dying it .... but I do hate sailing though so that might be a problem

I hoped I was a Vanyar and guessed I would be a Sindar.

Well I'm a Sindarin elf so Sindarin I shall be. My second would be Vanyar. Like 'Mer said, the stayed in the Blessed Realm. I'd rather not go get myslef killed and have The Doom of Mandos on me thanks.

hum hum. i think it would be awesome to be of the nolor, of the house of meadhros. just because the nolor are the most valliant. and because meadhros learned to fight better with his left hand than his right! ;)

I would be one of the elves of Lothlorien they were my favourite elves though followed closely by the Rivendell elves

I think I'd prefer to be numbered among the Avari and do my own thing. No pesky Valar getting in the way.

Mithalwen's assessment is similar to mine. I find the Vanyar prettified and irritating. I'm attracted to the Romantic drama of the Noldor but know I'd be a pretty ineffective Noldo, similar to Salgant maybe...I love the sea but am no use on board ship due to malcoordination.

Therefore I suppose I'd like to be of the Sindar. Daeron's life seems pleasant enough; music and beauty and safety and some unrequited love and tragedy, just to add some piquancy...
