LOTR b-day parties

today my mom asked me what king of cake decoration i wanted for my b-day cake. I said anything lotr. so she told me i had to make it myself... so i decided to do the pic of the doors of durin on my cake... since there was a pic in the book... well it came out like in the book, and very green. ( i ran outta colors and had to do most of it in green) well it came out okay anyway... i took a pic of it so you peeps could see it. i'll get it up here as soon as the roll is developed.
have any of you ever done something like this?

Raefindel 07-06-2002 10:52 PM

Wow! Great Idea! Did the doors open when you said the magic word?

Lady_Galadriel 07-06-2002 10:55 PM

Hmm... I don't know... I havent tried that yet. Maybe I will go try that now...

nope... it didn't work nooooo... oh well. what would happen if a cake opened up like that anyway? where would it open to? The plate underneath?

I can imagine a person standing over their cake and yelling, "MELLON!" over and over again.

Lady_Galadriel 07-06-2002 10:58 PM

Maybe it opens up to reveal the magical rubber duck that zips to the place of swans that duck and dive to the land of Internet, so that my ninjas will feed upon the horrendous, corpulent body of the oliphaunt.

Wow, sounded like a great cake. And have a happy birthday! http://www.plauder-smilies.com/birthday.gif

Nevfeniel 07-07-2002 08:00 AM

Um, basically, for my birthday (4 more days! Yay!) I asked my brother for the LotR sheet music for the piano, and I'm going to ask my friend for the soundtrack. Uh, that's about it.

Anna Licumo 07-07-2002 03:03 PM

I did the One right around the side of the cake, and did a chibi version of Legolas in the middle... It wasn't that great, but pretty funny. ^.^ Does that count?
Actually, that was my themed bd- the theme being LotR, obviously. We all pretened to be one of the characters, made lembas, went for a walk in the woods, and a whole bunch of other fun stuff. I'd highly recommened to everyone!

Lady_Galadriel 07-07-2002 03:19 PM

that sounds cool! you must of had lots of fun!

gollum*elf*pup 07-07-2002 03:41 PM

the only bad thing about pretty cakes is that they are too pretty to eat! you just want to look at them!

Raefindel 07-07-2002 09:49 PM

As long as a Balrog doesn't pop out of it!

Lady Ancalima 07-07-2002 10:11 PM

Wow that sounds fun!!! Maybe I should do that at my party too...well I think I am going to decorate my cake too [10 days until my birthday!!!]...I think I might right things in runes along the sides, and instead of roses I might do rings!! LoL...that would be fun.
-does anyone know what Happy Birthday is in quenya or sindarin?

Lady Ancalima 07-07-2002 10:25 PM

Wow I spelled write wrong...oops...I say too a lot too don't I? anyways on my bday cake I think I'm gonna have some kind of runes on the sides....then instead of flowers I might do rings....and then I am going to put happy birthday allison is elvish...and I might put the doors of durin on it too

Ok and I changed my question...does anybody know what Happy Birthday Allison {<=my name} is in quenya {or sindarin}?

My birthday was a month ago and it was very LOTR-style. First, it was a double celebration, as my dad’s and my birthdays are just two days apart) . Second, we had a party in the country, in front of our summer house, with many people coming and going. And finally, neighbours’ constantly rumbling and ‘sneesing’ car served for distant fireworks. Luckily, nobody disappeared completely, though we had quite a time looking for our kids.
That was some experience, really

My best friend's little sister had a LOTR-themed b-day party. it was kind of silly, though, since the kids were only 10 or 11, and none of them had read the book and only a few had seen the movie. anyway, she had everyone dress up as a character from the book. her mom made one of those ring-cakes and decorated it with yellow icing and put runes on the outside with chocolate icing so it looked like the One Ring. we played some LotR-based games. the best one was a obstacle course that involved running through Farmer Maggot's field, running from Ring Wraiths to the Prancing Pony, and stuff like that. I can't really remember details, as it was back in April and i have a horrible memory

Ah, well. My birthday's not 'til November, and none of my family has any interest in LOTR. Oh, well. By my birthday, I hope to have the $$ to buy myself a Frodo figure to go with my Sam and Bill. That will be the extent of my LOTR celebrating.
Happy B-day to all that have recently had them or who will be having them, soon! http://www.plauder-smilies.de/party/bdaysmile.gif http://www.plauder-smilies.de/party/balloons.gif http://www.plauder-smilies.de/party/party.gif

"Well, I don't know," said Sam thoughtfully. He believed he had once seen an Elf in the woods, and still hoped to see more one day. Of all the legends that he had heard in his early years such fragments of tales and half-remembered stories about the Elves as the hobbits knew, had always moved him most deeply.
