Who was your favorite small character in the books?

My favorite was Butterbur in FoTR. He reminds me so much of myself. =-)

In the book the Fellowship of the ring Elladan and Elrohir are my favorites

Arwen... well, she was small in the books...

Anywho, my real favorite small character (small, in a manner of speaking) is Quickbeam.

i prefer elladan and elrohir, i don't know why, probably cuz they're the sons of elrond and they're TWINS! it will be hard for those who don't know them personally to separate those twins!

Elladan. definetly.
oh, and Lindir had an even smaller part.
most people don't know who he is.

Long ago I conceived a liking for Ioreth's kinswoman - she's so minor she doesn't even have a name, but she put up with an awful lot considering how little space she actually gets in the book. As an example of everyday quasi-saintly patience combined with a sense of humor (she must have had one not to make Ioreth quiet down), commend me Ioreth's kinswoman.

I think I like Nob the best. I always liked reading the little bit about him, and he seems like a neat character to get to know better.

See ya,

Would Arwen count?? If not, Rosie Cotton. She had a pretty small part. And hers and Sam's daughter, Elanor.
Arwen

Sam's gaffer! Arwen Undomiel! Rose Cotton! Glorfindel! The Hobbit who says "ProudFEET!"

Arwen, Nob or Rose.

Arwen1858 10-25-2002 02:00 PM

Would the hobbit who says ProudFEET be old Odo Proudfoot?

I liked Nob and Bill the pony! He sounded so cute.

TolkienGurl 10-25-2002 02:13 PM

Yeah Arwen1858. I was too lazy to remember or look it up.

Okay, this is a little different, but my favorite small parts are: 1) Those two orcs that Frodo and Sam see when they are crossing the Plain of Gorgoroth, and 2) The orc that Sam scares away when he's in Cirith Ungol. Not a lot of people like orcs for some reason. I can't think why...

If you would consider Gil-galad a small character in the LOTR series, then he'll be it.

My favourite small character is Mablung from the Sil. I liked the way he handled the Saeros/Turin fiasco and his unwaiving sense of duty and spirit of chivalry.
