What is your Favorite sword
I personally don't have a favorite. I like all Elvish swords. They are cool i think. I really like Sting.

I am also a fan of sting, though it would be kinda small for me
It's always nice to have a sword that will glow to warn you of danger... |
either anduril, or the sword of the witchking (forget the name)
|
gurthang! i think that was the name after it was re forged.
|
Sting or Glamdring or Orcist! LoL...I like the lot!
|
*perks up* SWORDS? Middle Earth swords? NARSIL! NARSIL! NARSIL! stupid sauron busts it-grrrr. BAD! GOOD SWORD! glad it took his fingers! *zips of to yahoo.com to search for best deal on FOTR sword remakes*
|
Gurthang - meaning 'Iron of Death', the name given by Túrin Turambar to Beleg's black sword Anglachel after it was reforged by the smiths of Nargothrond from a sword originally made by Eöl the Dark Elf
The Witch-King's Sword, I don't believe, was mentioned by name. My fav would be Glamdring or Andúril. |
i like Caliburn , it was king Arthur's sword
made by Elves and given to him by the Lady of the Lake. |
Heh, Anglachel, 'cause I made it.
Actually I rather like Sting, your once a lifetime glow in the dark sword. We now have the glowign sword and the singing sword(if you count Gurthang talking to Turin before his suidcide.) What else are we missing? |
Glamdring is the best...mostly because Gandalf uses it
But didn't Glamdring also glow (white or blue...can't remember) when enemies were near? I believe it says somewhere in LotR that it glows, but I think it said 'enemies', not just 'orcs'. Or maybe it was in the Hobbit...it's all a big blur...lol |
Yeah!!!!!! Definitely Glamdring, just love gandalf`s sword.

I like Sting, and Narsil
|
Glamdring
A big part is that Glamdring and Orcrist were the first swords I encountered (having read The Hobbit before having any idea of the extensive history the realm of Middle-earth had). Gandalf seemed so cool at the time (and still does - cooler even). [ August 12, 2002: Message edited by: Legalos ] |
NARSIL!!! Its great!!! I have saved my money and i hope to get it soon!!! Yay!!!

Without being able to reference (I believe) The Hobbit, at the moment, there is a passage making reference to Sting and other elvish swords forged in Gondolin, as glowing in the presence of orcs. I presume this includes all servants/creatures of Morgoth. Which would therefore include Orcrist and Glamdring. I think, that it was Elrond, when Thorin & co. were in Rivendell, who identified these blades as being of Westernesse and their names.
Orcrist, placed on top of Thorin Oakenshields tomb, would glow when enemies were approaching the Lonely Mountain. Also, PJ seems to have either overlooked the fact that Glamdring should also glow when near orcs, or chose to ignore it. |
Mmmmm.....Sting.
As far as movie weapons, though, Sam's frying pan. Quote:
