The Lay Of Leithian

I am currently looking at this Lay from the book The Lays of Beleriand. I am intending on writing a summary or report if you must, about this particular Lay.

I am actually looking at Canto XI (11) through to Canto XIV (14)

XI-(The disguising of Beren and Lúthien and the journey to Angband)

XII-(Fingolfin and Morgoth; the meeting with Carcharoth)

XIII-(Beren and Lúthien in Angband)

XIV-(Escape from Angband)

Are any of you guys familiar with this Lay? If not, are there any resources which may aid me in composing my report about these particular cantos'? I have already looked at The Encyclopedia of Arda, only their information is very brief.

I fail to grasp your meaning. If you are to summarize it, then just read them all
or do you just want a short summary of all the chapters?

Understandable Ok, we have been given a task where we are to find a piece of literature which deals with aspects of Physical Journeys. And one of the tasks is to "re-tell" the events which take place...I have choosen Cantos' 11-14 since these are the areas in which the main journey/action takes place (my teacher has given me consent to do so). I am basically looking for a reliable source which explains the events properly, in order to place me on the right track of things. Otherwise i can compose my own summary and post it here...then i'll be open to any criticism? But i was trying to avoid that really I want to be correct from the beginning, so there are no real flaws in overall report.

So yes...a nice summary of the main events would be nice...

Just read it! Or the portions of the Silmarilllion that describe it!

You'll find accounts of it in the Sil, as well as previous, different renditions of it in the Books of Lost Tales.

I think your best bet is to find the passages in The Silmarillion that correspond to those cantos. The accounts are rather detailed, but you might have some reading to do.
