Does anyone know???
Ok. This question has probably been asked alot before, but can anyone tell me a website where I can find out what my Elvish name means? I had a site before, I just lost it. Can anyone out there help?
|
There is Ardalambion.com. It has a list of Sindarin words.
|
Yeah, I've been to that one. I just don't really get it. Cause everyone says you can find out stuff, I just don't know what link they go to. Thanx anyway.

All I know is that -wen means maiden.

Hi Eruwen!
Note that I have not read The Silmarillion, only the Appendix and Index (which has given me the condensed version, I guess). So, with some luck, someone else will give you more detailed (and accurate) information. Eru is Ilúvatar, ‘The One’, ‘He that is Alone’. (GOD?) So, Eruwen is 'maiden of Eru' or perhaps poetically and Biblically (if you're into that stuff) 'handmaiden of the Lord'. Welcome to the Barrow Downs! |
Yes, that is a cool title! You are very high on the ME scale! You must be from the heavens. I'm from the moon myself .
I would assume from what I've learned that it does mean "Maiden of the Lord." Some people here instead of saying God say Eru, that's why I assume so. [ June 05, 2002: Message edited by: Ithaeliel ] |
Or, you could take a gamble at http://www.greycompany.com . They have a language base there (you can search for words in the little search...and they have a printout 55 page dictionary). I'm not sure how accurate they are, because I've heard rumors, but, so far, they have been right...and they, unlike SO many sites, do NOT have "vedui" listed as a word! Yay!
