what is your favorite race?
 

i think i'd like to be Human. nothing too complicated. it's just: I don't like the idea of fighting with a bow and arrows like the elves prefer to do, although it certainly is a little safer than swinging around with a huge and enormously heavy sword [img]smilies/biggrin.gif[/img]. but enough about the weapons (you could of course check out this).
are there really some straaaange people out there that would like to be an Orc or even a Troll? let me know!

If you want to ask a question that sounds like it might have been asked before on a 3 year old Tolkien forum, I'd advise you to use the SEARCH, as this may prevent you from getting the mods/other members annoyed, with repeat topics, which this one is. I'd have to twist the elvish race for me...

On Tenduriel's side, I don't like using a bow and arrows, but I prefer swords. An elf because they are wise, agile, and ready for anything, even death. Qualities to be admired. Just a sword...guess I'd be the oddball of the race, huh? [img]smilies/wink.gif[/img]

elves definity love the bow and arrow and they are 100% cool [img]smilies/cool.gif[/img]

I like the halflings and the dwarves. I always love roleplaying a halfling's carefree personality with a dwarves' battle prowess.

Each Elven 'race' was assocaited with a weapon.

Vanyar=Spears
Noldor=Swords
Teliri=Bow
Nandor=Axe

I think Numenoreans are the best race because they're soooo cool!!

id say the dwarves. reason 1) i am very short. other reasons:
i luv their history. such as the battle of azanulbizar, and even further back, their making by aule. and i like the fact that they could not be...um...ive forgotten. something like they could not be controlled by their dwarven rings, or sumthing

My favorite races are hobbits and elves. The elves are immortal and all that, but I think I'd rather be a hobbit. I probably wouldn't have to master a weapon, except maybe for throwing stones. [img]smilies/wink.gif[/img] And hobbits like to eat, smoke pipe weed, drink, and eat. Not a miserable way of life if you ask me. [img]smilies/cool.gif[/img] :P

I like the race of men best, because the while the gift of Eru to the elves might be nice, there development will peter out after a while. On the othe hand, the gift to men keeps us advancing.

My favourite race in Arda is the Mount Gundabad 5 League Uphill Challenge. The terrain is tricky, the air is thin, and the fact that both Orcs and Dwarves enter the race always makes for an interesting event, and a few fun-filled days afterwards.

Dwarves cheating? Not Gimli's kin, but maybe Mim's. Anyway, I'm with the crowd in saying that the race of men is cool (elves are tooperfect, man Legolas never gets even a leaf in his hair) but centaur are destined to rule the Earth!!!!! [img]smilies/wink.gif[/img]

Has to be a Numenorean, one of the kings men and if not a black Numenoraen! coz im evil! Then again a Nazgul would be good or a Balrog!

MY race would be the race of men. My favourite characters are men: aragorn, boromir, faramir, éowyn, éomer, and so on....and they fight with swords. i LOVE swords!!!

My favourite race is Elves. I love the fact that they are so wise and beautiful, and id quite like fighting with a bow.

No, actually, he does, but that's beside the point. The kinslaying was a major mistake, and the Noldor payed for it. Elves are still the best race though. Men are weak. MWA HA HA HAHA!!!!

My favorite race is definitely that of the dwarves. They're awesome, and I love almost all of their history. *puts a big smudge of white-out over any account of Mim* I especially like the way they were created. I don't like all the elves, (particularly Feanor and co.) but the Teleri are pretty cool. Also, in a complete contradiction of my favoritism towards dwarves, I love the ents! Boy, am I messed up. well, I haven't checked the books, but I remember one elf of Lothlorien smile, when he showed them Caras Galadhon for the first time (extended version). what was his name again?

Haldir, yeh he is the only elf with a tendency to smile.. but thats quite rare [img]smilies/smile.gif[/img]

Wow. Who would have thought that someone else liked dwarves and ents? You and me mortal elf! I don't think I would fit in with elves, being neither wise nor a particularily good shot with the bow. Then again, I can't wield an axe either...

i cant choose between the Nolder (minus the cures), the Nandor, the Numenoreans and hobbits
i like to make from metal but i dont like swords i preffer the ax it's just more fun to use but i'd rather run and hide or not fight at all(Numenoreans) but i also LOVE to eat and all that other hobbity stuff like good tilled earth and plants and i like to read

I'd like to open up the field a bit to include Eagles. I've decided that having language, (rather than an opposable thumb) to be the major criteria as to what "races" can be included in your topic.
I would choose to be an Eagle of the First Age. To be able to fly, an observer of all that is going on everywhere in Arda, messenger of Manwe, hero -- swooping in at last possible second to save the day (really gets the adrenalin going) -- all in one package would really make me happy.

Half-Dwarf half-human (must have been one drunk human chick), but really I'd love the stamina of a dwarf along with the interesting beard styles and Strength. but being a little bit taller, fairer skinned, and bright (depending on how smart of a dwarf you had)...it jsut seems so perfect for me. .....
