The Wild Men

Where did they come from? What happened to them? Are they descendants of the men of Gondor? I am curious to know more about them.

There is an essay of sorts on The Drúedain within the Unfinished Tales.

Thank you. Unfortunately I don't own that book, and I am far from a book store.

They were Men who were first recorded with the Folk of Haleth during the First Age. They are short, and excellent woodsmen. They have shorter lives than "regular" men. They are rather sullen in disposition. There were never many of them. Some of them may have gone to Numenor, but if any did their descendants left when the kingdom started to turn to evil.

The Woses descended from the Druedain, an ancient race of men, some of whom accompanied the people of Haleth into Beleriand during the First Age. They had a gift for keeping perfectly still and were rumoured to be able to create statues of themselves capable of acting as guardians.
