History of Middle Earth (EVERYTHING from the Ages of Lamps to the War of the Ring)
Hi Everyone
I just thought I'd like to share a few thoughts about the history of Middle Earth (I love it) Probably my favourite bit to read about is everything to do with Melkor and the creatures he brought out of Utumno and Angband. Especially I love to read about Glaurung and Ancalagon the Black, but i'll gladly waffle on about anything! So please share your thoughts on this with me! |
I like all the HoME books thus far. 'Return of the shadow' makes me appreciate LoTR more, and gives me an insight on how it was developed, whislt BoLT2 has the Fall of Gondolin, which is great, but my favourites have to be HoME 10-12. They expand the Silmarillion for me, and give more info on the Noldor, my favourite characters and have some great pyschogical essays, like Myths Transfromed, and some great unpublished, new works, like 'Athrabeth Finrod ah andreth' and 'tal-elmar' and 'the shibboleth of Feanor'.

perhaps a link to 28 reasons or so to read HoM-E and UTwould be in order.
Welcome to the Downs Hannah! and be sure to peek in the Silmarillion Drafts... Forum for post after post of HoME esoterica and the humble begingings of the revised Silmarillion/Translations from the Elvish. [Eruhen's alarm for blatant Project advertisemnt goes off ] |
I think that my favorite piece of Middle Earth history would be: 'The Lost Tales of Middle Earth (1&2).
I'm not that big on the Silmarillion or those books that focus on Fist Age history, but this is an exception. |
