Arwen - Check out the Translations thread. It has the answer there. (As well as Spanish, Finnish, Greek, Russian, and a few other languages as well.)
That was a VERY GOOD thread! |

Hi,
I live in France. and there is only a unique version of LOTR translated by F Ledoux. LOTR = Le seigneur des anneaux The 2 towers = Les 2 tours TROK = Le retour du Roi. I read the poem translation in the "translation" thread. It's fairly well translated. remark 1: in the French version, the first verse is: Trois Anneaux pour les Rois Elfes sous le ciel,... Remark 2: some character's names changed Frodo Baggins: Frodon Sacquet Bilbo Baggins : Bilbon Sacquet Sam wise Gamegee : Sam gamegie Strider : Grands pas Bag end : cul de sac Rivendell : Fondcombe Gold berry : Baie d'or The shire : la comté The black riders : les cavaliers noirs Happily, Merry, Pipin, Gandalf, Legolas, Gimli, Elrond, Arwen, Galadriel remains the same. A bientôt |
