Middle-earth: "Weather" or Not?

I ran across this fascinating simulation from Bristol University showing the ME climate from a scientific perspective. For a duel Tolkien/weather geek, what more could you ask for? ;)

Cool. (Or, sometimes warm ;) ) Karen Wynn Fonstad's Atlas of Middle-Earth, a much older piece of scientific work than that, also features some pretty good (even though not as flashy, but in the good old-fashioned paper form) "research" in regards to Middle-Earth's climate and such. Among other things, of course.

I have Fonstad's Atlas and you're right indeed. She delves into the climate questions readily enough.

Her main focus was geography though, so other analyses of the weather issues are welcome.
