My thoughts while reading The Two Towers
 

As we read we get different ideas about the book that are different then the thoughts we have when we have finnished the book. I found a note my friend and I had been discussing TTT on. If your intrested you can see what I thought about the events. This was writen while I was almost to the end of the first part of TTT.

Here is the note:

Rose: I kinda wish Pippin and Merry had gone with Sam and Frodo. I wonder what Sam and Frodo are doing now. Have you looked ahead at all? Have you gotton to the second part yet? I'm so exited(sp) I can't keep my face straight. This is the same exitement I have reading Harry Potter and the Golden Compass.

Friend: I'm glad Pippin and Merry didn't go with Sam and Frodo because then they wouldn't meet Treebeard!

Rose: So What! Who cares about Treebeard he's a stupid tree person. I want to know about Sam and Frodo. They shouldn't have seperated. At least not the Hobbits. I don't care about Strider and the rest. I like Merry, Pippin, Sam, and Frodo and I want these four to stay together FOREVER!

Friend: Well I like Merry, Pippin, Stider, Sam, Frodo, Legolas, and Gimli so there! I don't like Boromir though, he's EVIL!!

Rose:Well I don't care.

Friend: I do.

Rose: I don't. As long as the Hobbits stay together I'm happy.

Friend: I'm not.

Rose:Oh well. Anyway what would you have done if you were Frodo?

Friend: Run away.

Rose: Your very brave.

Friend: To the fiery Mountain.

Rose: Oh.

Friend: To burn the ring.

Rose: Me Too!

Friend: NO you would run to your mommy.

(Please excuse me for what I say. I was suffering from Acute Hobbit Anxiety Disorder. I don't hate the unhobbit folk. I was just getting worked up.

About what you were saying about the hobbits staying together, if Merry a nd Pippin hadn't met Treebeard, the Ent attack on Isengard wouldn't have happened.

harry potter and the golden compass?

justa thought- the hobbits can't stay together because they are the only ones who lighten the mood wherever they go. they provide a nice refreshment from the battle-obcessed men. and, for goodness' sake, can you just imagine Pippin in Mordor!!?? First of all, he would have gotten them caught way before they ever reached that troop of orcs that they traveled with, and if he did make it that far, well, i'll leave that up to every one's imagination, hehehe [img]smilies/biggrin.gif[/img] . that would be one "mission-quest-thing" that they would'nt need "people of intelligence" on , if you know what i mean. and i mean, seriously, would you really want our adorable, lovable Merry and Pippin to go through the torture that Frodo and Sam went through??!! it was bad enough watching them suffer through their captivity with the orcs, but i think Mordor would be even worse-not to metion longer. i seriously wouldnt like that. and besides- Merry and Pippin played huge roles in the rest of the tale. it would seriously screw up the story line and maybe even kill tons of people if the hobbits had all gone off to Mordor. well, ok, i'm done rambling. If Merry had gone to Mordor, he couldn't have helped Eowyn kill the Lord of the Nazgul. Where would that leave the War of the Ring? I agree about Harry Potter. At least his movie didn't get any awards, or I would have been real mad. [img]smilies/mad.gif[/img]

How would you like it if someone went around killing off the fellowship?

Harry Potter risks his life to stop Voldemort. He his brave and always thinks about his friends before himself. Harry Potter has never done anything to deserve this.

If your after his head then it only suggests that you see him as a sutible rival of Tolkein books and want him out of the way. Well you will never have him. If a few hobbits can dodge you then so can he.

(just to let you know, I love LotR but I also like Harry Potter and I can't see why these two works can't be at peace)

Those hobbits escaped the nine, but your forgetting i am number 10. I want to kill harry potter because he is a little gay-wod who looks like me. He tried to steal tolkien's spotlight. Go to a potter site if you what to praise him. this is the barrow downs and were 100% LOTR. and just to remind you HARRY POTTER WAS KILLED BY US NAZGUL.

<font color=red>Can you guys say anything without dissing Hary Potter. This thread is supposed to be about The Books (not Potter books, Tolkien books). If you don't like Harry Potter that is O.K. (I haven't even seen the movie so I am not one to talk but it is getting on my nerves). Just don't complain about it here!

Anyways, onto the subject. That is interesting Rose. Kinda wierd that before you know how it turns out, and before you know how valuable everyone was in their own role and place, you had those thoughts. Now, of course, you know Merry & Pippin had their glory. Without them, Faramir would be dead, and the Witch King wouldn't. Gotta love the little guys, eh?

All I can remember from what I thought was "He wasn't supposed to die!!" (In regards to Boromir). I had seen the movie before I started TTT. Ruined it for me. *grimaces*

However, my heart was lifted with the appearance of Treebeard. I love that guy!! (Ahem...stupid tree person? lol, AHAD works in many ways, I see. [img]smilies/biggrin.gif[/img])

And Boromir isn't evil! It was the damn ring that made him mad.
