Food and drink in Middle Earth

This might be in the wrong board, but anyway. What did they eat in MiddleEarth? I mean, I know about lembas and Ent draughts, but what did people eat in different places? And what drinks were popular? It might be dumb, I just wanted to start a thread.

Hmm... I know beer and mead were popular... beyond that I really don't know...

<font color=gold>Well, seeing as how the Hobbits were farmer's I imagine they had almost anything readily available to them. They loved to cook. They made breads, cakes, cheese, eggs... they also had fruits and meats (just as we do). Men probably had the same stuff, though I don't think there was a farm near Minas Tirith.
They also had trade, just as we do (this is seen in The Hobbit).
Elves had their special "magical" items such as lembas, but I imagine that they too relied on fruits, meats and grains (someone can prove me wrong, because this I am not so sure on).

That "farm near Minas Tirith" was supposed to be a joke, but instead it just sounds dumb... sorry.
Oh yes, beer was very popular... that and water.

Oh, boy! Another Middle Earth "Food" thread!

Aldagrim: check out these two threads for all you might ever want to know, (or not) about M-E diets:

Middle Earth recipes

concerning hobbits

Plus there's another thread about "What did they eat in Mordor", but I couldn't find the addy!

Bon Appétit!

About Mordor:
If I remeber correctly Merry and Pippin were given some sort of roasted flesh when they were captured. They didn't trust it and while reading it I thought it could just be human flesh as well as some animal's, yek. They were also given some disgusting drink with a lot of alcohol which burned in their throats.
In Mordor itself Frodo and Sam drunk muddy water the Orcs used too. They were also told not to drink from streams they might find.
