Hey look at this

Hi I don't know if any of you have seen this before but I found a site and it had this list of 21 things you shouldn't do while watching lord of the rings. Some of them are pretty funny although I definately would not want to try any of those if a barrowdowner were sitting in the theatre espically the first one as the person would probably get their head repeatedly stomped on for interrupting the movie to mention Harry Potter in it lol.

The Top 21 Things NOT to Do While Watching The Lord of the Rings

1. Stand up halfway through the movie and yell loudly, “Wait…where the hell is Harry Potter?”

2. Block the entrance to the theater while screaming, “YOU…..SHALL….NOT…..
PASS!” - After the movie, say “Lucas could have done it better.”

3. Play a drinking game where you have to take a sip every time someone
says, “the Ring.”

4. Point and laugh whenever someone dies.

5. Ask everyone around you if they think Gandalf went to Hogwarts.

6. Finish off every one of Elrond’s lines with “Mis..ter Ander-sonnn.”

7. When Aragorn is crowned king, stand up and at the top of your lungs sing, “And I did it…. MY way…!”

8. Talk like Gollum all through the movie. At the end, bite off someone’s finger and fall down the stairs.

9. Dress up as old ladies and reenact “The Battle of Helms Deep,” Monty Python style.

10. When Denethor lights the fire, shout “Barbecue!”

11. In TTT when the Ents decide to march to war, stand up and shout, “RUN FOREST, RUN!”

12. Every time someone kills an Orc, yell: “That’s what I’m Tolkien about!” See how long it takes before you get kicked out of the theatre.

13. During a wide shot of a battle, inquire, “Where’s Waldo?”

14. Talk loudly about how you heard that there is a single frame of a nude Elf hidden somewhere in the movie.

15. Start an Orc sing-a-long.

16. Come to the premiere dressed as Frankenfurter and wander around looking terribly confused.

17. When they go in the paths of the dead, wait for a tense moment and shout, “I see dead people!”

18. Imitate what you think a conversation between Gollum, Dobby and Yoda would be like.

19. Release a jar of daddy-long-legs into the theater during the Shelob scene.

20. Wonder out loud if Aragorn is going to run for governor of California.

21. When Shelob comes on, exclaim, “Man! Charlotte’s really let herself go!”

Oddwen 03-16-2006 06:58 AM

Oh, I saw those somewhere before...thanks for bringing those up. :D

- 'specially 12 and 16.

9. Dress up as old ladies and reenact “The Battle of Helms Deep,” Monty Python style.
(A nice idea. But it just got silly).

14. Talk loudly about how you heard that there is a single frame of a nude Elf hidden somewhere in the movie.
(Check the Two Towers extended edition of Eowyn and Legolas
just before Wormtongue comes in  ).

I like 2 and 5 but 13 is my favorite :D

JennyHallu 03-16-2006 09:23 AM

I like 7. At one point, my sister and I had a mock-musical of the Lord of the Rings all planned out, with theme songs (usually classic rock) picked out for each character. For example, Sauron's was "Eye in the Sky" (might not be the right title):

Chorus:
I am the eye in the sky,
Looking at you...
I can read your mind.

I am the maker of rules,
Dealing with fools...
I can cheat you blind.

And I don't have to see any more
To know that:

I can read your mind.
I can read your mind.

Pippin and Merry were to sing a duet of "I like Beer":

Chorus:
I like Beer. I like Beer.
It makes me a jolly good fellow!
It helps me unwind...
And Sometimes it makes me feel mellow...
(makes him feel mellow)

Evil Galadriel sang "Fame":

FAME!
I'm gonna live forever,
I'm gonna learn how to fly!
FAME!
I feel it coming together...
People will see me and cry!

And so on, and so on...I can't remember them all. I think Sam's theme was "Lean on Me"...

Glirdan 03-16-2006 09:38 AM

Jenny!! You just quoted one of the musicals my school put on a few years ago!! Hooray!! :D

lothlorien, I love it. Absolutely hilarious.

"And you shall be known as the Fellowship of the Ring, Mister Anderson." Ahhhh!! I can't stop laughing.

My favorite was....ahhh, who am I kidding! I loved them all! :D

Valier 03-16-2006 09:55 AM

You know your a loud mouth Geek when you actually concider doing these, to get a rise and perhaps a laugh. #11 oh yea I'm so saying this next time I watch it!:D

Morsul the Dark 03-16-2006 10:56 AM

look at this :D

Farael 03-16-2006 12:03 PM

You have to love #2.... that's my favourite quote =D I think I've said "You... Shall not... pass!!!" five or six times in the last two moths... not bad for a quote that doesn't really fit in too well with many conversations :D

Mithalwen 03-16-2006 12:11 PM

My god daughter and I nearly got lynched for laughing so much at Frodo bound by Shelob's cords that he looked like an extra from the Sound of music...

Of course, that didn't work too well in the South Park version of LOTR.
Although the bad kids on the bikes were scared of water (rust) and
took the long way around.

Lalaith 03-16-2006 12:29 PM

I dare someone to do #3 and then come on the Downs, make some posts, do a bit of PM-ing....would be very funny for the rest of us...if they can see the keyboard, that is.

Good Lord! NO!!

I'll be the first one legging it out of the theater.

Other thing you could possible do:

[Applies to Aragorn likers]
- Swoon every time he speaks ;)

-Pretend to throw up when Legolas speaks

- Ask people that of Dumbledore was played by Gandalf (Sir Ian McKellen) would be back in the 7th Harry Potter book... :(
::Le sigh::

- Try to play spot the difference with:
* the dwafes
* the oliphants (sorry about the mutated spelling...)

- Try to have wagers with the people sitting in the row behind you whether Frodo and Gollum are gay...?

- Twist back the person sitting next to you's finger (to cause slight pain) during the scene where Gollum bites of Frodo's finger.

- Sing R.Kelly's "I believe I can fly" during the end scene where the eagles come to rescue Sam and Frodo from Mt. Doom.

Hey there's some good ideas here lol it'd be interesting to see how many between us we could come up with.

Wonder aloud who has the bigger nose out of Boromir and Faramir when Faramir is riding out to battle and Gandalf's trying to stop him

Consider why Peter Jackson never did show Faramir and Eowyn get together when Denethor is trying to set them both alight

Sing Jack Blacks spiderman song but change the words to suit the Nazgul and their birds better when they're attacking Gondor

When the Nazgul king and Eowyn battle at Plennor fields shout do the wave for Eowyn the disco queen at a really dramatic scene and see how many people jump.

When Eowyn kills the Nazgul kind cry the man in black is gone

well that's all I can think of for now

Hookbill the Goomba 03-26-2006 10:16 AM

Hope you don't mind me adding some ones I thought might be amusing.

- Randomly shout, "Man, I bet this never happened to Doctor Who!" every 10 minuets.

- Continuously claim that there’s a corpse under your seat when the army of the dead appear.

- Play with fireworks.

- In the middle of the film stand up and announce, "This isn't the super market!" and storm out.

- Bring a ring and pretend to be invisible. Go around poking people saying "ooohhh! You can't see me!" They'll probably find it really funny. :p

- Let a balloon fly around the room so that it makes embarrassing noises during an Aragorn and Arwen scene.

- Make shadow puppets of giant rabbits during the battle of Pelenor field, and shout "Look out, Théoden! It's going to eat you!"

- Shout "May the Force be with you!" randomly.

That’s all I have at the moment.

Kath 03-26-2006 10:36 AM

While this might get you thrown out in the cinema, it is extremely amusing to do at home:

When a group of friends is round and you're watching one of the EE's (that they haven't seen before) leave the room a couple of minutes before a bit that might make you jump is on, and then just as it happens burst back through the door and scream. The combined effects make for some truly hilarious reactions :D

But don't do it if any of them are bigger than you. Pain follows :(

13. During a wide shot of a battle, inquire, “Where’s Waldo?”

That is almost as sad as Where's Waldo: On Mars...

Pathetic fellow, wouldn't have a chance...

Legolas in spandex 04-10-2006 05:23 PM

the run forest run got me laughing.

Glirdan 04-10-2006 05:24 PM

11. In TTT when the Ents decide to march to war, stand up and shout, “RUN FOREST, RUN!”

I told this one to some of my friends and they almost died of laughter. It's awsome!! Now I have the sudden urge to watcht TTT...

Something I actually did-

Point out the scientific inaccuracies in every scene.

(ie: If Frodo and Sam had really been that close to the lava flow, they would have cauht fire. When I saw Episode III, it took all my will power to not jump up and yell, "See? That close to lava and you catch fire!" I was nearly killed for it.)

lothlorien 05-18-2007 07:26 AM

When the orcs come in...well any of the movies really they're in each one stand up and say loudly "Man I wouldn't like to be trying to find the females in there" and

When the ents show up in (TTT) shout out loudly "I can see the strings"

Included that part in a physics paper amongst others, and the other Tolkien fan in our univ at the time nearly killed me for using RotK for a physics movie paper. :)

I think it would be more appropriate to do something like this:
Elrond: Strangers from distant lands, friends of old, you are summoned here...
[as the camera pans over Boromir]
Me: GIVE THE WAVE FOR BOROMIR THE DISCO KING!!

The sad part is, I would have friends who would do the wave right then and there.

If by "Frankenfurter" you mean Dr. Frank N Furter... I'm pretty sure you'd get lynched if you tried this around a bunch of rabid LotR fans.
