I'm no da Vinci, but...

I predict that this will put the How Do You Imagine Other BDers? thread and the photo page out of business! (Wait, maybe I should have said so in The Future of the Downs... :p )

The other night I was bored and doodling little pictures, and I decided to cartoonize some Downers while poking a little fun at the comings and goings on the fora. Warning: they're quite silly, and hardly great feats of artistry.

1. Lalwende is dating WHO?

2. Davem tells them off once and for all...

3. Saucie provides group therapy for The Hobbit characters...

More to come in the future... Anyone else want to have a go at it?

Lalwendë 08-25-2005 02:26 AM

You have to see these, folks!

And Enca has captured davem's eyebrows perfectly - they do point up just like that when he's arguing! :p

the guy who be short 08-25-2005 05:49 AM

:D Makes me wish I could use anything more complex than Paint.

HerenIstarion 08-25-2005 05:53 AM

they are good

:D

Just to clarify for those who havent' seen the source of it: Illustrations refer to the discussion in Canon, what are we babbling about thread

Eomer of the Rohirrim 08-25-2005 06:52 AM

That's just brilliant, Enca. You'll be the first official Barrowdowns illustrator. :D

The Saucepan Man 08-25-2005 07:16 AM

Hehe! Davem is just how I imagine him when crossing swords with him in some of the more "contentious" threads ... :D

And the likeness of me is incredible - well, it would be were you to go back some 15 years. :(

Loving your work, Enca. Looking forward to seeing some more. :)

Bęthberry 08-25-2005 07:24 AM

And here I thought this would be some kind of religious mystery or conspiracy thread! I would never have guessed something along the lines of a Downs anime. ;)

Superb,Encaitare! Although I have never thought that SpM and davem had similar hair styles.

 and, even, :smokin:

Lalwendë 08-25-2005 01:18 PM

I especially like that Davem is wearing flares!

:D

Hah, my cartoon men have only a couple of different hairstyles since I'm not very good with short hair.

Thanks for all the nice comments, everyone... next up is Esty!

Durelin 08-25-2005 02:16 PM

Brilliant. Now that is what I call memorabilia.

Feanor of the Peredhil 08-26-2005 10:13 PM

As we chatted on deviantart, Encai, I got up to no good and doodled two images tonight. I'll put them up once I'm at school (it'll be a week or so) but I've currently got a HerenIstarion and... a surprise. I really like the Heren one. The second requires fine-tuning.

And did anybody ever realize how much like a demented goose storks end up looking come midnight? Not that that has to do with anything... ;)

Encaitare 08-27-2005 03:19 PM

Two more!

1. Esty is Princess Fiona

2. THE Ka with Oscar and Bosie

Kath 08-27-2005 05:39 PM

Oh Enca these are fantastic! The Saucie group therapy one is a work of genius it truly is!

the guy who be short 08-28-2005 11:26 AM

I just noticed your hilarious comments underneath the pics.

Quote:

I picture [Lal] as a hobbit, and therefore have made her one, albeit a remarkably tall hobbit. Or maybe he's a really short Dunlending.
Perhaps a little of both?

Quote:

I didn't misspell "Legendarium" by the way; I just realized it looks like I did... my M just kinda ran into an N-ish sort of character...
No worries, I didn't notice anyway.

Quote:

Oh, canonicity. Wars have begun over it.
Not... really...

Shrek looks more like an alien than an ogre
Who says aliens aren't ogres? Or ogres aren't aliens? Or they don't cross breed...?

I don't think there's that many to choose from, you know. :p And that's not entirely accurate, but I'll leave it for now.

Glirdan 08-28-2005 11:34 AM

Awsome work Enca! Saucie as a therapist! Who's your next victim?

Bergil 08-28-2005 12:26 PM

'm laghimg o har I ant type wheel.

but are you referring to da vinci as an artist or a predictor (as in code (I think, I havn't read it))?

Ainaserkewen 08-28-2005 12:34 PM

Oh, these are great. I actually came on this thread because I thought it was a Da Vince's Code thing...pleasantly suprised.

An A+ from me.

the guy who be short 08-28-2005 02:54 PM

Welcome, Bergil

She was referring to him being an artist.

I also originally thought she had discovered some hidden code in the LotR. It's amazing how much that book has influenced people... Da Vinci is no longer an artist in people's minds, but a codemaker.

Special prize:

I'll create a little picture, most likely terrible quality, including anybody who can tell me where my current sig is from. Without using a search engine.

H.G.Wells I believe, "War in the Air"? ;)

I read the first chapter once, I'm surprised I remember that sentence.

Love the drawings Enca! :D

To be honest that didn't occur to me until I read that sentence! I'd seen the thread and noted that Enca had started it and since we all know she's an artist I figured it would have some link to the artist. I only think of the book if the full title is there.

Oh and Enca what's next?

 Well done wilwa! I was certain I'd be the only one reading Wells' obscure socialist propaganda!

The promised ill-drawn pic is now on my computer... I just need to devise some way of showing you all. Keep low expectations, please. :)

I believe I read the first chapter for a project at school or something, it didn't interest me much so I changed to a different subject. But know I'm glad I had read that far. :p

;) To stay on topic I will repeat myself: Love the pics Enca!

What's next is that I got impatient. Instead of waiting to set up my scanner, I pulled out my camera and took shots of the four pics I did. Guess who they are.

This Guy.

And This Handsome Trouble-Maker.

And Or Course This Scaliwag.

the guy who be short 08-28-2005 05:13 PM

The first is H-I of course - the bandanna gives him away! Why's he cleaning a mirror?

The second is Fordim.

It looks more like a dustpan to me.

Well done Fea. :D

A mirror? Dear boy, didn't you see the tags that were cluttering up that table? Now they're safely in the dustpan.

And the second, of course, is right.

Meneltarmacil 08-28-2005 05:28 PM

I think these are great. H-I and Fordim I had already guessed, and that last one, of course, is Eomer.

Feanor of the Peredhil 08-28-2005 05:37 PM

Did the kilt give it away? :p

Hey, this one finished uploading. Not an actual member, I'll admit, but a current joke. If the black cloak does't give it away entirely, the label on the stork's bundle should.

wilwarin538 08-28-2005 05:44 PM

the phantom who be short of course. ;) Can't really read what the label said though.

The Only Real Estel 08-28-2005 06:29 PM

All the pictures are awesome! I especially like the 'Therapist Saucie' one by Enca & the kilt-wearing werewolf Eomer one by Fea. The Eomer one was peer genius! :D

Gil-Galad 08-28-2005 08:01 PM

those are all pretty great

Glirdan 08-28-2005 08:20 PM

Awsome pics Fea!! I liked the werewolf Eomer pic. Hilarious!!

And I thought it would be a pun on HerenIstarion. Silly me.

EDIT: Here we go! Sorry, that's the largest image I could get free... it was originally bigger. And I can't use my gigantic scanner, so I had to do it in paint.

wilwarin538 08-29-2005 07:17 AM

That's so funny :D . Very well done guy, I will treasure that pic for the rest of my life. :p

Morsul the Dark 08-29-2005 08:34 AM

If you'll notice wilwarin's sig now has a link to that picture...excellent drawings from all I wish I had a scanner to add my own art i however do not (which is fortunate for you guys) ;) my drawing skills are shall we say...limited

Enca loved the saucie picture
and the H-I picture

Glirdan 08-29-2005 05:36 PM

Awsome pic of Wilwa TGWBS. And it tells the truth! :p

Looks like we're in the same boat Morsul. My drawings are, kind of, sort of, aww who am I kidding! They SUCK!!

The ever jealous Glirdy

P.s: Don't take that seriously Wilwa. Please don't hurt me!

the guy who be short 08-30-2005 06:22 AM

Don't be discouraged by lack of scanners! Anybody can create something of abysmal quality on paint (I did) and www.photobucket.com offers free (albeit with limited space) image hosting. Everybody can join in. :D

Plus, with all our low quality paint-produced artwork, we'll make Enca and Fea look even better.

Fordim Hedgethistle 08-31-2005 03:16 PM

Egads Fea...it's like looking in a mirror!

AbercrombieOfRohan 08-31-2005 05:30 PM

Egads Fordim, you're a Bruce!

And to Fea and Enca, I love your drawings! Very well done!
