Birth of Lurtz

Ok this is a bit icky and I apologise if I turn any stomachs with my query.

While rewatching the FotR DVD, just after Lurtz is coming out of his slimy caul, I noticed another orc, howling, also in the slime. Was this Lurtz's mother, having just given birth?

Eeurgh!

Do you mean the orc pictured here to the right of the picture captioned "Saruman witnessing ..."?

If so, I thought that was Lurtz himself before he broke through.

No, it wasn't him. This one was covered in slime too, you just got a quick glimpse.

Mommy would have to be pretty big to birth a fully-grown Lurtz. I think chances are the other slime-orc was just another Uruk waiting to be 'hatched'.

In the LotR "Weapons and Warfare" or what ever was the books name, they said that Saruman had some kind of breeding pits where the uruk-hai were born (?). I'm not quite sure , what that means nor I know how that'd work in practice... I just think that what ever that slimy orc number 2 was it wasn't Lurtz's mum. *shudders*

I noitced another Uruk too. I don't get how the Uruk-hai's origins (birth, parentage) is something Jackson managed to get 100% wrong...all the time. Lies of Melkor seeds sown! (Well, you never know.)

ARe these pics fromthe EE or something? Becuase I have the EE, and havbe never some of these...are they from prerelease shots? If fo, I wish they'd been put it!!!

Apparently some of the pics didn't make it out of the cutting room, since it says that specifically under one of the shots of Lurtz strangeling the Isengard orc.

You're right about the Weapons & Warfare book, & since PJ decided to go with the breeding idea over the birthing one (wether he was right or wrong), I'm pretty sure we can take the other orc as 'just another one waiting to be hatched', like Son of Numenor said.
I'm sure they were packed in there like sardines anyway :p.
