what happened to the dwarves' rings
I've finished the Sil. I've read LOTR but I may have missed it. I found that three of the seven Dwarf rings were recovered by Sauron. What happend to the other four? Is it in one of History of Middle Earth volumes? I've just started the first one.

Well, I thought they were 'lost' anyway or another, but it don't know for sure, It has been a year ago when I read LotR, so I don't quite remember anymore.
Hehe, I'm a wight, sounds cool! [ June 06, 2002: Message edited by: Veritas ] |
They were devoured by dragons according to Gandalf.
|
Sauron possesses 3 of the 7, including Thrors ring, taken from Thrain, his son in the dungeons of Dol Goldur. The rest are in the bellies of various unnamed dragons.

Thanks, you guys are great.

Well, I always thought that they we taken by dragons, it says it somewhere in LOTR I think, lets have a look....I'll let you know if I find it.
|
the dragons "consumed" them which mean they cannot be recovered because the rings could be melted by dragon fire.
|
I thought only the most powerful dragons could melt them.

Three of the Dwarf Rings Sauron had the last one was taken from Thrain, Thorin's father. The others were destroyed by Dragons and such maybe even a Balrog

Not by a Balrog, they can't produce hot enough fire. As said three were taken by Sauron, and the rest were destroyed by dragons during the various wars between Dragons and Dwarves (or should I say unslaughts, the dwarves were often no match against the fire dragons).
|
But what did Sauron do with the dwarf rings he had?
|
He probably tried to collect all of them so he could become more powerful.

Could the One Ring be blown up by TNT? An H-bomb?
