Opinions on the Wedding (Possible Spoilers)
How do you guys think Aragorn and Arwen's wedding will play out? I wonder who will do the ceremony. I am expecting it will be Gandalf or mayber Elrond...maybe. Or Arwen and Aragorn could say their vows to eachother with out anyones help for I read somewhere that elves can marry without witnesses or anyone to do the ceremony. I think what will happen is that right after Aragorn is crowned Elrond will come walking up with Arwen. What do you guys think?

I would venture a guess that Elrond would be the one to administer "vows", if they do indeed do those in Middle-Earth.
Here are some pictures of the wedding:

And this one, a soldier at the wedding:

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO on the wedding! I swear it's not necessary. They just want to give Liv Tyler more screen time. pshaaaaaaww.

So I would bet that the wedding scene is pretty short. But I still think it is going to be a really good scene.
I have no idea who, or if anyone will preside over the ceremony. I would doubt Elrond, especially because in the films he has been so against the wedding anyway. But of course his mind could change, this would be his last chance to see his daughter.
[ 1:52 AM December 08, 2003: Message edited by: Gorwingel ]

I didn't like the changes made with Arwen, and I'm not a fan of Liv Tyler personally, but the wedding is one of the few times I would disagree with leaving out. It's crucial in the movies. So we shouldn't boo it.

They should have the wedding, they just shouldn't make it very long. I didn't really EVER like Liv, but they can't really leave out the wedding after all this useless attempted romantic buildup between her and Aragorn.

I agree the wedding is needed that is why I made this topic. The wedding is a major part of the book even if it is not described in detail. I doubt the wedding will be long for it is true that the movie will only last 20 min after the ring is destroyed there is other stuff to go through like the gray havens, maybe somekind of conclusion by Galadriel, etc.

*SPOILERS*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
There is a review at TORn (I believe the one from a "literary fan") that claims there was no wedding scene, just Aragorn's coronation. I find this a bit hard to believe, though.
-Lily

I mean she is a cool character but they shouldnt have change nething. But the wedding is very important and should not be left out!

If the wedding is in the movie at all, I'm betting it will be 30 seconds or less, or maybe combined with the coronation. As for the ceremony - if there's any officiant, I'd put my money on Gandalf. They could also take the old-fashioned approach of just having them speak the vows before witnesses, but with no officiant - hey, if it was good enough for the early Middle Ages, I'm guessing it was good enough for Tolkien .

they don't really need the wedding- it'll be quite obvious that aragorn and arwen get together without all the non-ring related stuff. fan of the books that i am, i still hope they pretty much leave it out.
