*TTT EE Easter egg(s)* - Gollum insulted MTV
In the extended edition of The Two Towers, Gollum insulted MTV. I thought it was great! I hate MTV...
(Title edited for more clarity)
[ November 20, 2003: Message edited by: Estelyn Telcontar ]

I forgot to tell you all, it's an easter egg. Can you find it? it's very easy.
|
I guess this thread will be deleted because you are supposed to mention that "additional scene" in the appropriate thread.
But where can I find that scene?
|
I remember seeing it on the web at the time it happened. I thought it was inspired. Can you imagine Lucas doing it with Yoda had he won that award?
Superb.
|
I don't get it. when did gollum insult mtv?!?!? enlighten me, quick...
|
Ok. I have no idea what you people are talking about either. And Lady Snickerdoodle...you stole my away message and used it as your signature!!! Traitor. (To all you other LOTR forum peepul- I know her...it's all good)
|
I don't think my thread will be closed, it's not about additional scenes or the apendices. It's about an easter egg, a hidden feature. Or will it be deleted, Estelyn?????
Gollum insulted MTV when he recieved his MTV award for best animated character. It's hidden in the first DVD of the Extended Edition of The Two Towers.
|
I saw the skit on the MTV movie awards back in the spring. It's very very funny in my opinion. I liked seeing what Andy Serkis actually looks like. He was a very good sport to go along with all of that though.
It goes like this, for those who haven't seen it. Andy Serkis comes on and accepts the award for best visual animation character, all of a sudden, out of nowhere, gollum comes out, grabs the "golden popcorn"(the award) and goes off about how hard it was to make the movies and the low play yadayadayada, he goes off on how he hates MTV, then Smeagol says:

quote:
Not me, MTV's my friend.......You don't have any friends.....Dobby's my friend.....Dobby? Dobby's a *beep* *beep*

And gollum goes on swearing and flipping out. Andy is going nuts and pulling out his hair.
Friends and I where literally ROFL! One of those "favourite movies" clashed with cursing pop culture, always worth a laugh.
[ November 19, 2003: Message edited by: Ainaserkewen ]

Thread about the special features.
Also, what is the point in replying to a topic you know is redundant?
|
Looks like there's some misunderstanding about the purpose of this thread. Apparently, it's not about the additional movie scenes in the TTT EE (Sharkū has linked to that thread.) but about the Easter egg feature(s). In that case, we can leave it open, since that's a different, valid topic. I'll edit the title to make clear for what people are looking here.
|
Eh, a feature's a feature, it's just that some are oh-so-cleverly hidden.
|
I finally saw it and I really cried out loud out of joy when Smeagol says "Dobby is my friend" hahaha. It was really really funny. Have you seen the look on Woods face after all is over?
Now I've watched it again and I forgot the line when Gollum insults PJ. He cites the famous "Shame on you" by Michael Moore. Very funny.
[ November 20, 2003: Message edited by: Balin999 ]

I knew this wouldn't be deleted. Thanks Estelyn!!
And now that we're talking about easter eggs, does anyone know where the Return Of The King trailer is hidden?? I've been looking for it all through the 4 DVD's but I can't find it.
|
I don't believe that the ROTK trailer is in the set. The TTT trailer that was in the FOTR Extended Edition was only ever shown straight after FOTR. The ROTK trailer is a "proper" trailer meaning that it will be in the two disc version of ROTK.
|
Where does one find the Easter eggs on the region 2 TTT DVD - both Easter eggs were on the region 2 FotR EE (the 'Council of Elrond' parody + the TTT trailer)?
I've got a 'continental' (not British - with subtitles in the Scandinavian languages) version of the TTT EE DVD - still region 2, though.
So if the Easter eggs are there, where am I supposed to find them?
[ November 20, 2003: Message edited by: mollecon ]

Yeah! Where are the easter eggs!!! I could never find them on fotr ee either...
|
Although this comment is just going along with the rest I did think that gollum was portrayed really well, not only the cgi but even his duel personality (although the swearing was not really his true character)was well represented whereas oftentimes when it's outside of the movie people tend to totally ruin characters to suit thier own purposes this was done really well.
|
In the first dvd go to the Select Scene menu. Highlight the last scene and press down, a ring will appear, press enter to view what's hidden. This is for the first dvd in both The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers extended edition.
|
Yeah, I thought it was funny! But where did Gollum learn such language?
|
His grandmother taught it to him.
|
Oh, but when I do that it goes back to the first scene!
|
OK, I did find it on my own - but thx anyway.
Elentįri, did you come as far as to the ring symbol?
|
I thought it was both brilliant and hillarious; even after watching it five times in a row, I cannot get enough of it. Poor Andy looked so embarrassed.
|
When I try it it just plays 'Of Herbs and Stewed Rabbit'.
Could some kindly soul please explain in detail how to get there?
|
I'm a bit confused here. Is this definately on the UK version? Because the MTV spoof wasn't on the UK version of the FotR EE.
|
Is there a difference between the UK and the continental European versions? The MTV spoof is definitely on my (German) TTT EE DVD.
|
How to get to the easter egg:
Put in disc 1 of the EE.
Go to "select a scene" and press enter.
Go to the column of numbers down the right side, highlight "29-30" and press enter.
You'll see a white hand next to scene 29. Press the "down" arrow on your remote twice.
A gold ring should appear. Press enter.
Do not drink while watching. It will come out your nose. ^__^;
Saucepan Man, I don't know if it will be on the British DVD. It's rather rude, though not as crude as the previous MTV spoof.
-Lily

quote:
Yeah, I thought it was funny! But where did Gollum learn such language?

quote:
His grandmother taught it to him.

Ooh yeaH??? Well, what does Gollum's grandmother look like then?!
|
I thought it was a British thing... Nope, it isn't there...nor was the thing last year...but I saw it on the MTV movie awards! It was better on MTV than on Channel 4 (yeah, I watched both... ), because on MTV it was only bleeps, but on Channel 4 it was actually blanked out, so you couldn't work out what he was saying!
|
When I saw this footage I laughed so hard I cried and I almost ****ed myself I was laughing so hard.
|
AHHH! MTV murdered Music and turned the whole world into pop-loving zombies!
Go Gollum!
** Dear lord it was funny wasnt it.
|
Apparently it wasn't included because the British Board of Film Classification would have had to reclassify the DVD...or something.
|
We never get the fuhnny eggsses. :'(
|
That was one of the funniest things! I loved that so much I watched it 10 times in a row, laughing harder each time. Gollum sure has a foul mouth though.
|
Is there only one easter egg? There were 2 on the FOTR EE. But Gollum was SO funny. But I didn't heed the warning of not drinking while watching that...I got the consequences.
|
As far as I know, there is only the one easter egg. I was hoping for a ROTK preview but haven't heard of it.
Hope you've recovered.
-Lily
