Is the White Tree going to be in RotK?

I'd use a White Tree icon here, but none exist, sadly.
You see the White Tree on many of the vestments in Lord of the Rings. It is the banner, the insignia, the saddles, armor, all of it is marked. But do you think they will have the actual plot of the White Tree of Gondor in the movie itself? It seems like it would have garnered mention by now...

It can be seen in the trailer when Gandalf is riding towards what I think is the citidel.
H.C.

Sapphire_Flame 10-02-2003 12:54 PM

Yes indeed, HC. It can be seen to Gandalf's right side as he rides up to the Citadel. You may have to watch it slowly to catch it. (I had to...)
Abedithon le,
~*~Aranel~*~

Pause the quicktime version at 1:49 the white tree will be between Ganddalf and What seems to be a gondorian soldier. It will be grey.

Here is a far clearer picture of the White Tree than the one I posted earlier.
Look to Gandalf's right.
White Tree
H.C.

quote:
Look to Gandalf's right.

*looks at picture*
Hmmm, I thought the tree would be kinda, y'know, centered in front of the citadel. Oh well. Maybe I missed something when I was reading it.

glad to hear it will be seen, i also hope it will be explained. I like the history of the tree, too. I'm a gondor fan. Got the tree as my first tatoo.

Gorwingel 10-12-2003 05:38 PM

Looks like it is at an angle, different than I thought it would be though. Thought it would be more delicate. Glad it will be included in the film though.

the real findorfin 10-14-2003 04:12 PM

It looks very stunted (yes, I know its supposed to be withered and dead) and rather fat. I was expecting a thin, tall and elegant but leafless skeleton.
But I too am glad it is in the film. I just hope that they actually explain its function/back story.

dragoneyes 10-14-2003 04:18 PM

Looks a little blackened to me but other than that, quite similar to how I pictured it.
And I too hope it is more than just a piece of scenery only readers of the book will know about.

Knight of Gondor 10-14-2003 08:16 PM

Are we SURE that's the White Tree? It does look much more like a simple stump. You'd think that the tree would be defined as white, even while dead. Plus, it would seem it would be in the middle of more of a display type area of the turf of that courtyard or something.
Also, I wonder if they will have the reblossoming of the sapling tree Aragorn finds...?

Knight of Gondor 10-24-2003 09:43 PM

I suppose we have our answer now, don't we?
This is my friend in Gondor...we call him Winghead sometimes. He hates that.

Maéglin 10-24-2003 10:50 PM

LOL Knight of Gondor, looks like your friend here is sleeping on the job
btw why does he have a black sash around his mouth?

Jack 10-25-2003 12:38 PM

I didn't see the tree
I think I'll go look again. *looks again* I NEED GLASSES I think!

Knight of Gondor 10-25-2003 09:14 PM

The tree is right there behind the soldier!
I don't know why he likes to wear that rag over his mouth. He looks like a Southron soldier. But I think he likes the idea of being anonymous, kind of like the guard at the tomb of the unknown soldier.
