What will you be doing on December 17th 2003?

Hi!

So what will you be doing on Dec 17th? I mean have you planned your day?

Have you any great excuses for your bosses/teachers/parents to let you have the day off?

I'm not sure what i'm doing, i mean Dec 17th is a Wednesday and that means i will be at work

But i will be off Thursday 18th

Your thoughts!

Feanor of the Peredhil 09-14-2003 10:23 AM

I personally will be spending every Trilogy day (three days a week) trying to convince the teacher to take us on a field trip to see ROTK. If that fails, I will either be cutting school or going to see the first show after 3:00. Either way, I am definately going to see it on opening day. And I'm sticking to what I did last year: buying the tickets 4 hours early to ensure that I get in.

Meneltarmacil 09-14-2003 11:07 AM

I'm with the the sci-fi/fantasy club at my school, and every year since FOTR came out, we have gone to see LOTR after school. This year is no exception.

elf-girl-63 09-14-2003 11:50 AM

I will be doing what I do every year on DEc 17th- celebrating my birthday!!!!

Yep- that's right folks!!! Aren't I the lucky one?

Evisse the Blue 09-14-2003 11:50 AM

Well - I'm very sure Dec 17 will pass just like any other day for me. ROTK will certainly air much later where I live.

But I'll give it two days-- then log on to see what you guys have to say about it! All the whines and praises (mostly praises, I'm guessing). I can see it now...

Horse-Maiden of the Shire 09-14-2003 12:06 PM

In the wee hours of Dec, 17th, I will hopefully be watching RotK because of this, which will (hopefully - I'm praying!) be happening in the city closest to me. I can't wait, even if that doesn't happen!

Naz 09-14-2003 12:17 PM

I'll be in school for most of the day : p

Meela 09-14-2003 02:01 PM

I should be straight off to the cinema in the evening. No special plans.

ElenCala Isil 09-14-2003 05:20 PM

Well, technically here, RoTK won't be out yet, but if all goes well...midnight premiere in Florida

Gorwingel 09-14-2003 06:12 PM

Well I actually have my day planned (tenitively)
My December the 17th will actually start on the 16th. I will go to school on the 16th from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the afternoon. Immediately after I get home I will do my homework, and hopefully get some sleep. I am planning on not going to see the first two films earlier in the evening just because I don't have the time. I am then planning to head out to the theater at 10:30 p.m. or earlier, to start waiting for ROTK. I will then of course start watching ROTK at about midnight. Leave the theater after it is done, and then go to bed. Waking up at 6:40 in the morning to get ready for school on the 17th.

I know I will be tired, but I am a senior in high school, and it will be well worth it.

Goldberry 09-14-2003 06:29 PM

I haven't exactly planned my day yet, but hopefully it will end up a bit like Gorwingel's. Since I have school the day after the midnight release, my mom and dad probably won't let me go see it then. But if I'm at my mom's house, I can easily sneak out around 11 PM and walk to the theatre. At my dad's, however, it would be much harder to sneak out. Normally I wouldn't be the type to sneak out of the house, but for something like the RotK...well, you know. Otherwise, I will go to the first show after school is out.

Tinuviel of Denton 09-14-2003 08:05 PM

I'm going to sound like a very UN-obsessed fan, but really, this is the best way to go see one of these movies. I mean, if you go to the premier, it's packed, and you can't really complain until it's over, when you've forgotten half of them. So I'll most likely end up going to see it a few weeks after it comes out, because there'll hardly be anyone there, and I can yell at the screen if I need to. Not that I don't want to see the premier, but...it's also cheaper this way. And I'm poor.

Maylin 09-14-2003 08:32 PM

I will be sitting in a prison, erm...classroom, bored out of my mind. O maybe I'll not be bored because I'm daydreaming about ROTK. I'm definatly going totry to see it the day it comes out, but my parents might not let me

Elwen_starmaiden 09-14-2003 10:09 PM

I have the parent problem also, I'm lucky if I see it the day after the opening! So I'll most likely watch my extended versions (when I get TTT one) over and over and mope around school until the day comes. But hopefully my luck will strike by then.

Gorwingel 09-14-2003 11:23 PM

See I don't have the parent problem, because my parent is coming with me (And my sister)

Same here. My dad is taking me and a few friends to the MIDNIGHT SHOW out at the Commons. So we'll be spending all day on the 16th out at the theater, see the movie at midnight, go home and get a little sleep, then get out to the Landing (other theater), and see it again!!! And we'll have costumes and be eating lembas, ent draught, and skittles.

ONLY 93 DAYS UNTIL ROTK IS IN THEATERS!!!

Durelin 09-15-2003 11:57 AM

Hot-gluing elf ears.

Firnantoonion 09-15-2003 12:18 PM

I'm going to the midnight marathon, to see all three movies, and take free from school the day after (because I will be very tired)..

P.S. what does it matter if the theatre is full? you can still yell at the screen, and it can even earn you some weird looks!

Tinuviel of Denton 09-15-2003 06:21 PM

But I could get kicked out, and we all know what a tragedy that would be!

Lady Iverin 09-15-2003 07:51 PM

I will have watched the extended versions of both FOTR & TTT and will be totally siked up for ROTK!!!

Cuthalion 09-15-2003 08:23 PM

Restraining myself from going to the theatre. I want to see RotK the first time with Maika when she returns to the States on 12/27...woohoo! Hmmmmmmm...but will I be paying much attention to the movie then?

Everdawn 09-16-2003 01:00 AM

!I WILL BE WAITING ANOTHER 10 DAYS OR SO UNTIL ROTK IS RELEASED IN AUSTRALIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ITS NOT FAIR!!! WE NEVER GET ANYTHING WITH EVERYONE ELSE! What is so wrong with us that we dont deserve it! Man it makes me VERY angry... So when its like dec17 here on the downs everyone will be talking about it and ill be like.."yeah..um.." Not happy JAN!

Normally a normal person would be fine with it, but i am so addicted to movies its not funny, it happens with every movie! No jokes, my friends come to me and ask what movies are released when? ,plot?, characters?, actors?, who produced?, who directed? and which studio made it. A major kick in the guts for me.

Sauron 666 09-16-2003 07:37 AM

You have my sympathies Everdrawn. As for me i will be no doubt attending the premiere with one of my friends who's as obsessed as i'm am about Tolkein. We'll probably get tickets to the noon showing because we have to be among the first to see it so we can act like the true elitists that we are

Orofaniel 09-18-2003 01:36 PM

The 17th of december??

If I get tickets I'll go and watch it and of course dress like an elf But I doubt I'll get tickets, and even if I did, I would have troubles dealing with my mum, because it's a school night. So I loose either way. That's really unfair...I can dream though...

Awesomeness, mine just so happens to be the 18th! Me and my friend were going to dress as Merry and Frodo (and maybe her cousin would come as Pippin) and walk to New Zealand and get there in time for the world premiere. Then we realized you can't walk to New Zealand from America.

Annalaliath 09-18-2003 05:30 PM

I will be at school, most likly. Doing finals or what have you. I will go to the showing with my boy freind dressed and deacked out. And the weekend before will be excuse for LOTR marathon. Maybe winter break will have started? I have no idea!!!!!!!

Feared Half-Elf 09-19-2003 01:07 PM

I'm gonna pursuade my friend to organise a trip to Rotk for her birthday on the 21st.

Vanya sulie

Airerūthiel 09-19-2003 01:58 PM

I will be in school for most of the day, and in the evening will most likely be going slightly mad with anticipation (this presuming that my parents let me go and see the movie on my own - I don't like going to see films I really want to see with other people for some reason)

PS Feared Half Elf, I love your sig!

It will be the second-to-last day of Midterms at my school, although I will dress up as an Easterling spy. I've got quite a convincing costume being made, and I'm even going to paint my face with the gold and black designs that the Haradrim have in the Two Towers. It's going to be so cool! I'll wear the costume again that weekend when I go see it with my friends.

Everdawn 09-19-2003 08:56 PM

I think i am really going to cry...

Oddwen 09-19-2003 09:07 PM

HOPEFULLY I will have my licence by then...along with a chance to get tickets to the midnight showing...and permission to go driving that late at night...
So, crack of midnight, if all goes well, I will be sitting in a rear-numbing seat waiting for the end!

Hee hee. I wanna see it. Now. Hee hee.

Same here... I just can't wait... I'm going to beg and plead with my parents to let me skip school during the day to go see RotK... I hope it works. I'll be so excited... I already am! I just can't wait! *argh* This longing is slightly irritating... I wanna see it! *breaks down and cries*

Yes...but any-woo, I'm probably going to bring some tissues, because I will most definatly cry. Even during the credits...

Goldberry 09-19-2003 10:25 PM

I'll probably just break down crying near the end, and then when the credits start, just not have the energy or real desire to get out of my seat. Then I'll just sit there crying my eyes out over the credits and whatever sad song they have for RotK.

Galenfea of Mirkwood. 09-20-2003 08:16 AM

I am going to have to spend the day at school, but at the end of the day I and all my friends are going to descend on our local cinema!

PS. Feared Half-elf, I think you've got it wrong, I and my friend are the first Chocoholic elves!

Same here. But whether or not I actually do cry (though I bet I will) I'm going to watch all the credits. It'd be nice to give ALL the people that worked on it some recognition.

QuickSlash 09-20-2003 09:35 PM

I'm in a program here in Ohio where I can take either high school classes or college classes. It's great. <3. I have Spanish IV at 8 in the morning, then the rest of my classes at the nearest university. Luckily, the university has no classes during December. That means I can go and do whatever I want all day. I'll be seeing the first show I can reach, and maybe another after that. Just depends on what's allowed. ~_^

Finwe 09-21-2003 06:47 AM

I will probably end up bawling my eyes out too all throughout the movie and especially at the end. I really should invest in a box of good tissues when I go.

Samwise 09-22-2003 04:50 PM

ONLY A BOX? I fear I'll have to invest in the Kleenex company, I'm such a bawler.

Hm. This the first time I'll actually be working that time of year, but depending on the schedule of the one I'll be seeing ROTK with (the LOTR movies have been my Christmas present from him for the last two years...well, wait, there was the Sam in Moria action figure....)ANYWAY, for SURE I'll be wearing my hand-made Hobbit style dress and hopefully the travel cloak I'm having made... ...THEN, 17th or another day, I shall go to said movie and BAWL MY EYES OUT!!!!

Orofaniel 09-26-2003 03:14 PM

I wrote this earlier!

No-Oh....Not anymore!!

I talked with my parents today, and they said I could go! I was very surprised because it's...um...quite ...late! And it's a school night. And on the top of it all: My dad offered himself to drive me!!!! So, I don't have to take the bus...

My oh my...and here comes the best part: I don't have to sleep outside in a looooong queue to get the tickets, someone else is going to do it for me. I have to say that I'm not...um..jealous of them, sleeping outside in the cold. (We have snow in December!!)

Anyway, so now, I'm planning to make a costume, and stuff. Probably ears as well.

Just so I make myself clear: I'm going to the see ROTK on the 17th of December, (If I get tickets....)

So, toaday, is my lucky day!!!
I hope it all turns out for you guys!

Gorwingel 09-26-2003 11:24 PM

My mother, who could be considered a newly minted LOTR fan, has been trying to get everyone from her work to come on the 17th and become part of the Line Party. She actually has been quite successful. But, yes, many of them are worried about how they will get tickets (but some of them never go on the computer, so they know nothing about Fandango). I can't wait for Dec 17 though, it is going to be such a great night.
