The Name Game
Really simple game; here is a recap for those unfamiliar with the principle...
The object is to continue with names that have the last letter of the previous name as their first letter. For instance, if I started with Gandalf, a suitable second entry would be Fredegar Bolger. Then the next name would have to begin with the ultimate 'R' in Bolger and perhaps someone else will take up the baton... |
Are names of places ok, cos if they are, I'll say Rivendell
|
I think if we restrict it to just people, it will be more challenging.
But I'll go on from there... Legolas Greenleaf |
Feanor
|
Radagast
|
Turgon
|
TREEBEARD
That OK ??? |
The letter to follow was actually 'N'. Sorry King
I'll go for... Nori |
Ioreth
...and I think KingCarlton posted at the same time as I... [ April 11, 2002: Message edited by: Narya ] |

Stephanos one-- S - Saruman , Sauron . N - |
Yeah.. bad luck for you...
but the next word has to begin with an S (see Stephanos` post.. Lotho Sackville- Baggins) So I´ll say Sauron |

"Pippin, Pippin, Bo-Biffin,
Banana-Fanna Fo-Fiffin, Fe-Fi, Mo-Miffin, Pip-pin!" Oooops! Wrong "Name Game"... Mmmmmm...OK...Narvi. The dwarf stonewright who made the Doors to the entrance of Moria. |
Iarwain Ben-adar
|
Rohan
|
I have been stumped as to another 'N' character that has not been used. Someone can tell me that I am incorrect but I seem to remember...Nob and Bob!
So...my answer is Nob; but feel free to dispute this! If you think it's ok, continue with 'b'. [ April 11, 2002: Message edited by: Stephanos ] |
Then Bob for the next one!
|
Beleg!
|
Galadriel, the White Lady.
UPDATE: By the way, this name ends with a 'Y'. I was trying to be clever. (I think there may be only one name that starts with 'Y'.) Oh well. [ April 12, 2002: Message edited by: Lostgaeriel ] |
I think the posts should be a little more substantial than just providing the name. SHouldnt we put a brief description on the person as well?
Something like : Lathspell - A name attributed to Gandalf by Grima Wormtongue I think |
Are we still restricted to people? If not,
Lorien or if you're old school Lothlorien or if you're an Ent Laurelindorinan If we are restricted to people, Lomion Any way you pick, you've got to go with N |
Nimrodel - The Elf maid who was lost in the mountains while trying to reach the Havens, where her lover, Amroth waited.
|
LEMBAS.
|
Samwise - Loyal servant and companion of Frodo Baggins. Short term ring bearer, long time mayor. I could go on but... you know...
|
Eressëa, The Lonely Isle, Home of the Eldar.
|
AMROTH,
king of Lorien, lover of Nimrodel ! |
Well I suppose place names make it much easier...
Hobbiton. Home of some very small gentlefolk...Need I elaborate? |
Náin I, a Dwarf King. Sorry, but you'll have to look for 'n' again!
|
(The) Necromancer - who was, in reality...SAURON!!!!
|
Rose, wife of Sam (no, I don't write "Cotton", because of the N )
|
Elessar the elf stone, one Aragorn's other names
|
I am assuming that R is right, last letter of the name proper, so my next one is Rhovanion, the Wilderland east of the Misty Mountains.
|
You left me an 'n' again didn't you Esty? Tut tut. So because I can, I'm expanding the game
You can include names, place names and now items. Narya - one of the Three Elven rings, worn by Gandalf the Grey and Gandalf the White. |
