True or False

In this game someone says something about a person or something that happened from the movie or book and the next person has to guess true or false, I they get it right then they make up the next statement.
~~Boromir dies in the second book~~
*easy but i just wanted to start off simple*

LePetitChoux 03-09-2003 04:31 PM

Yes. It is true.

Catherine 03-09-2003 04:41 PM

Yes you are right although he did die in the first movie!

Catherine 03-09-2003 06:44 PM

You can make up the next true or false statement.

LePetitChoux 03-16-2003 03:19 PM

True or false: Shadowfax is white

Beren87 03-17-2003 06:46 PM

False, his coat is silver-grey.

Allie 03-18-2003 02:45 PM

That is true, but who's doing the next one? I want to answer!!!!!

Beren87 03-18-2003 04:21 PM

Welcome Allie! Please read the Quiz Room Rules which will tell you that I'm waiting confirmation on my answer before going. Have a good time!

elven maiden Earwen 04-18-2003 08:44 AM

New Question
Dora is Frodo's aunt.

alaklondewen 04-18-2003 08:51 AM

True

elven maiden Earwen 04-18-2003 08:54 AM

correct

alaklondewen 04-21-2003 07:34 PM

Sorry for the delay, I couldn't think of a good one.

Farmer Maggot's farm is 56 miles from Bag End.

Sophia the Thunder Mistress 04-21-2003 07:36 PM

On a guess... true (the Road to Rivendell thing says it's roughly that to Stock...?)

alaklondewen 04-21-2003 07:40 PM

What do we do on this thread when someone's answer is incorrect? I'm mean it's a 50/50 chance, if I say no, then you know it's false (which it is by the way ). It is actually 60 miles to Maggot's farm, but you can go now, Sophia.

Beren87 04-21-2003 11:20 PM

Well, you may know it's false if you say that they're incorrect, but they still have to figure out why and give the reason it's false.

In other words, your answer can't be just "True" or "False", you have to say why it's either.

Sophia the Thunder Mistress 04-22-2003 12:56 PM

So shall I go? or should Alak ask another?

Beren87 04-22-2003 02:13 PM

Quote:

but you can go now, Sophia.
I would say you should go.

Lyra Greenleaf 06-22-2003 09:36 AM

I think I could go now maybe....?

Hallatan was a descendent of a crowned King of Numenor.

elven maiden Earwen 07-02-2003 02:22 PM

True. he was desendent of King Vardamir Nólimon.

Lyra Greenleaf 07-06-2003 09:23 AM

Well, yes he was the descendant of a king- it was kind of a trick question as he was never crowned. I'll give it to you because it took me so long to answer. Sorry! (Why don't we have an embarrassed smiley?)

elven maiden Earwen 07-06-2003 11:05 PM

Tharkűn is one of Gandalf's many names.

Gwaihir the Windlord 07-07-2003 02:20 AM

True. A name either given to him in Gondor or Harad, I believe.

Beren87 07-07-2003 02:21 AM

It was by the Dwarves, just adding that.

- the ever-present Matt

elven maiden Earwen 07-07-2003 09:17 PM

The Windlord is correct. In most ways but yes Beren it was by the dwarves. It is now your turn.

Gwaihir the Windlord 07-08-2003 02:12 AM

Hmm yes, very good Beren -- how embarassing to make a blunder like that. It was Incanus, of course...

Gandalf operated a fax machine in Rohan.

Lyra Greenleaf 07-11-2003 05:23 PM

? False, he got a horse called Shadowfax there? (That sounds like it ought to be wrong...)

Gwaihir the Windlord 07-13-2003 03:21 AM

Yes Lyra, that's right. Of course Gandalf didn't use a fax machine, the Rohirrim didn't have them! I was hoping to ensnare some poor bastard thinking they were being clever and cryptic with 'Shadowfax' being their 'fax' machine, but no, I've been denied the enjoyment I would have got out of that... ok then, go ahead.

Lyra Greenleaf 07-21-2003 12:42 PM

Sadly enough I'm not clever enough to think like that. Sorry to deprive you of your fun!

True or false: There is a Hobbit called Linda.

Mariska Greenleaf 07-22-2003 02:43 AM

very true: Linda Baggins, she was the younger sister of Bilbo's father Bungo, so she was Bilbo's aunt.

Lyra Greenleaf 07-23-2003 12:40 PM

Yes indeed, please continue...

Mariska Greenleaf 07-24-2003 01:38 AM

true or false:

the New Row used to be called Bagshot Row.

Arestevana 07-24-2003 08:50 AM

That is true.

Edit: actually, you could say it was false, as Bagshot Row was leveled and rebuilt as New Row, making New Row just that- a new row. Something's telling me I've made this harder than it really is.

Mariska Greenleaf 07-24-2003 09:06 AM

That's right!

Your turn

Arestevana 08-01-2003 06:18 PM

Whoah! So sorry, I totally forgot I posted here. This is going to be easy, but I don't have a question ready. Um, True or False:
Adaldrida Bolger had two sons
Pathetic, I know.

Gwaihir the Windlord 08-02-2003 02:27 AM

True, as well as two daughters. (Lol not really pathetic; anything that you have to look up to answer can't be that easy) .

Arestevana 08-03-2003 05:08 PM

Oh, dear. Yes, pathetic. I had to look in the book to WRITE the question. Also, I don't know if you are right or not. I knew she had two daughters, but I didn't know she had two sons. Go ahead anyway, you're probably right. *sigh* I didn't think it was possible to flunk at something as straightforward as True or False, and I was ASKING the questions.

Gwaihir the Windlord 08-04-2003 01:20 AM

Actually, I'd never have noticed it was pathetic if you hadn't pointed it out; but anyway, most are in this thread, so you've got nothing to worry about at all...

'Arda!' was the word uttered by Eru that started the world.

Arestevana 08-04-2003 01:53 PM

False. The word was, I think, Ea.

[ August 04, 2003: Message edited by: Arestevana ]

Gwaihir the Windlord 08-05-2003 01:25 AM

Correct.

Arestevana 08-05-2003 04:33 PM

Edit: Bad question.

True or false:
The Noldor were also called the Golodhrim.
Easy, I know.
