Is there a people called the Avari anywhere in LOTR?

I was just wondering if there really were and race of elves called the Avari. From what I've read from other people they are said to be like...the Gothic form of elves. If someone could tell me that would be great! Ok bye!

Avari were Elves. When the Valar called the Elves to the Blessed lands, many of the Elves were afraid of the them. They had bad dealings with Melkor and were afraid.

Orome was able to convince many of the Elves to follow him to the Blessed Lands, but many would not go. Those Elves who started out on the Great Journey were called Eldar, while those who would not go were called Avari.

Avari and Eldar are exactly the same race. The only difference is between going on the great journey or wanting to stay in Middle-earth from the get go.

All of this took place in the First Age, well before the time of The Lord of the Rings. I'm sure there were Avari living in both Rivendale and Lothlorien.
