Barrow Downs Roll-Call - 1 November 2009

I visit the Barrows periodically these days, usually lurk and read, but rarely post.
I was curious who all is still active these days?

Morsul the Dark 10-31-2009 06:42 PM

Present and posting, Sir

alatar 10-31-2009 09:15 PM

Keeping watch through the night.

Why do you ask?

Inziladun 10-31-2009 09:29 PM

I'm here, still haunting after all these years.

Feanor of the Peredhil 10-31-2009 09:48 PM

Bueller?

Bueller?

Bueller?

Folwren 10-31-2009 09:52 PM

Here, but only in the roleplaying section, really.

Hakon 10-31-2009 11:16 PM

Lurking in the dark waiting to pounce on my prey, master.

Yea I am here, I wonder how creepy I came off in that sentence above. Never thought this site would hold a roll call.

Oddwen 10-31-2009 11:43 PM

Here, railing against the morning of which I am bereaved, and cursing the warmth for which I hunger. Out of the formless stream of short but horrible posts, strings of words might now and again shape themselves: grim, hard, cold words, heartless and miserable. Also Captions.

Snowdog 11-01-2009 12:56 AM

I just threw this up here as I was reading some threads that were posted to recently but were quite old, and wondering if some of the oldsters were still around.

Estelyn Telcontar 11-01-2009 08:47 AM

I'm still here, posting actively occasionally when a subject comes up that interests me, and acting as a bouncer for spammers as well as keeping the skwerlz on a leash for the rest of the time.

radagastly 11-01-2009 11:47 AM

I never posted much, and lately it's even less often than that, but I still lurk and look for threads with an interesting idea or perspective. The problem is, on the 'Downs, the people are both clever and quick, and usually express my thoughts for me before I even have a chance to formulate them. So mostly I just hang-out and read through.

Pitchwife 11-01-2009 12:55 PM

Hi Snowdog, pleased to meet you! I'm rather new here as an active member, but have been around as an occasional lurker for much longer, and I'm always delighted to see one of the giants of old on whose shoulders we newbies are standing reappear, like SpM recently. (I'm also rather near your end of the age scale, judging from the nice pic you posted on the photo page a while ago.)

What's that, confessing before the game has even begun?:p

Eönwë 11-01-2009 02:01 PM

Hi, Snowdog. I'm also one of the newer members, and I be a-postin' as well.

Rumil 11-01-2009 02:17 PM

Evenin' All,

name - Rumil
rank - how rude
number - eleventy-one

all present and correct Snowdog

Formendacil 11-01-2009 02:22 PM

Not posting terribly a lot here, but still on daily or more--keeping up with (and occasionally posting on) Books threads, the extra-game aspects of Werewolf, and stalking significant others through the Mirth, RPG, and BD subforms.

EDIT: It occurs to me that, while I can probably legitimately place myself among the more senior active members, I'm still not one of the "old crowd" as someone like Snowdog might define it. How many years does that take?

wilwarin538 11-01-2009 03:18 PM

The Butterfly be present. Currently just as a WWer feeding my addiction, but when I have free time I do like to go over old threads and lean some interesting things. I was gone from the Downs for quite a while, but quite happy I came back!!!

Loslote 11-01-2009 04:18 PM

I'm new, but here! Probably (read, definitely) the newest of all the posters, but still active! :)

Though I have been active and posting longer than Eönwë, I still am a newbie compared to the likes of you, Snowdog. So, I am here as well!:)

Perhaps.

Morai 11-02-2009 01:45 AM

Here and accounted for, even though I've been drawn into Downer super-culture via the Mirth forum and this one. I don't have much time for anything else these days. :o

narfforc 11-02-2009 04:07 PM

Does anyone own a flat ginger cat surrounded by flies, if so it's on my driveway, can you come and collect it please. It seems that it's name was Samwise, though I doubt it was, especially since it fell asleep under my Chieftain Tank.

Does this mean I'm still here?

Ibrîniðilpathânezel 11-03-2009 09:59 AM

I haven't a lot to say at the moment, but I look in and read fairly regularly.

Hey, when did that second green square pop up...?

Eomer of the Rohirrim 11-03-2009 10:37 AM

My participation has been grim of late, but once a Downer always a Downer. :smokin:

Thinlómien 11-03-2009 02:08 PM

Nearing my fifth deathday and still feeling like a relatively new member, I've been wondering where does the borderline between "new" and "old" go...

Anyway, nice to see you Snowdog, I remember you from my newbie days, but I think you probably don't remember me... :)

Morthoron 11-03-2009 03:32 PM

Technically speaking, I am here (in that I have just obviously posted); otherwise...

Lush 11-04-2009 05:44 PM

I poke my nose in during those moments when I'm not fantastically tired and busy, but moderately tired and busy.

*kiss kiss*

Snowdog 11-05-2009 07:20 AM

Its good to see everyone!

I've been around the Barrows since I first lurked back in the EZ Board days, but never kept record of my couple posts. I seem to drop in now and then... usually after I've had a few beers.... post a few times, then disappear for a time. Thats probably why I only have about 300+ posts after 7 years.

Thinlómien, I remember you in that I've read some of your RP posts. I got into one RP here, even helped craft its beginnings... Lingering Darkness... but had to drop out due to a rather chaotic personal life at the time. I would consider getting into an RP here again, but I'm committed to a couple stories on other boards. That and I find the RP forums here too structured and stifling to my creativity. I do like reading what others write here though as they seem to thrive in this environment.

Pleased to meet you too Pitchwife. I think I put a pic of me with my Barrow Downs shirt on... can't remember now. Yeah, I'm old. :p

Its good to see life in the Downs. A few other Tolkien boards have all but died except for a few folk, and so its good to see activity here. :)

Bêthberry 11-05-2009 09:35 AM

Long time greetings, Dawg.

I'm still here, kicking up the dust in the back of the Barrow, although not doing much rpging after I gave up modding Rohan.

Since we started out "dead" I think we're a bit more experienced at the afterlife (post movies) than other boards. :D

mark12_30 11-05-2009 12:19 PM

As long as I'm trying to finish Tapestry, I'll keep struggling back. I can't call myself a daily regular anymore, though.

I miss the old threads.

Celuien 11-15-2009 03:55 PM

Here now and then to lurk.

Thinlómien 11-19-2009 03:00 PM

Celuien...!!! I guess there's no chance of luring you to RPGing a little... :Merisu:

The Saucepan Man 11-21-2009 06:19 AM

I'm one of the recently returned. And no sooner did I return than I fell back into the Werewolf habit ...

Hello mark12_30 and Celuien - good to see you both again. :) And good to see that you're still going with the frog avatars, Celuien. :D

Celuien 12-06-2009 02:29 AM

Frogs forever!

Would love RPGing... but I don't think I can fit it in. :(

Kuruharan 05-02-2011 08:58 PM

I still pop up from time to time. :)

Nearly ten years for me and I'm still wheezing along. ;)

narfforc 05-03-2011 04:48 AM

I still visit on a regular basis, and get to meet some of our colourful Downers at Oxonmoot each year...

Marileangorifurnimaluim 03-11-2012 01:41 AM

At this point I seem to pop by about once every year or two. Still not as bad as Gandalf, who disappeared for eighteen.

- Maril

Eruhen 03-11-2012 07:31 AM

I'm still around. Recently came back after a loooooooooooooong holiday, having passed my 10th ( ) deathday, but I'm still here.

Not posting nearly as much, especially since TftE seems to have fallen by the wayside, but I'm present and accounted for.

Eruanna 03-16-2012 04:17 PM

Also returning after an absence :) Although, I have always popped in to read various threads from time to time.

I have to confess that it was all the fuss about the new Hobbit movie that brought me back! Once here, I remembered what an interesting place the 'Downs is and all of the fun I used to have here.

narfforc 03-17-2012 11:22 AM

Still here.............. drop in mainly to read these days.

LadyBrooke 03-17-2012 10:27 PM

I'm in and out of here...rarely have much time, double majoring plus a significant role in a Tolkien group on another site seem to take most of my time. But I do pop in to read things every few weeks.
