All you need is love...

I was watching Moulin Rouge yesteday, and you know thereīs this whole line: "Love is like oxygen, love is a many splendid thing, all you need is love!" *sigh....* Sooo romantic.....
Aaaanyway, what Iīm getting at: Do you think any of the LotR character has a similar attitude? I thought of Arwen, but maybe not. For her, itīs the love to Aragorn, not love itsself she lives for. Also, I think, she doesnīt think about it all the time as "love that great thing".
What do you think?? And, for all that have seen Moulin Rouge, do you think there are some people with Ziddlerīs "The show must go on" mentality?

PS. This is my first try to start a discussion in MM. Iīm sorry if itīs not very good, maybe itīs rather Newbie or something. But if you like it, POST!

Well, there is one character that springs to mind...... Tom Bombadil!

Not based on anything, just an impression...

Audrey just seems to remind me of Faramir. I wonder why. (The actor who plays Faramir also plays Audrey)

Right now I can't help but to think of this line:
"He was quickly joined by a dwarf dressed as a nun." hehe

Sam sort of reminds me of Christian from Moulin Rouge. I can just see him saying "Luckily, right at that moment, an unconscious Argentinian fell through my roof." hee hee.

Of course, the connection came because Baz Luhrman has always talked about Moulin Rouge as a retelling of the Orpheus myth, and Sam sort of does the whole Orpheus thing when he goes to rescue Frodo from Minas Morgul. (Except, of course, he does it right)
Anyway, that's my connection.

Oh great. Thanks a lot. As if it wasn't hard enough to watch movie-Faramir normally, now I'm going to constantly have to banish images of him in a purple wig with makeup...

Oh, and I always think of Gollum and Sauron when I hear Richard Roxburg's (the Duke) line; It's not that I'm a jealous man... I just don't like other people touching my things!!!

BWWWUUUUAAAHAHAHAHAH!!! I love Moulin Rouge!!! Awesome film!!!

When I think of the most heartfelt moment in LOTR, I think of several things. One, Sam's defiance in Shelob's lair and how he carried on even after he thought Frodo was dead. Well, pretty much any scene with Sam and his love for Frodo. And my favorite part of the appendicies is where it mentions how Arwen went into the forest and died of grief...awe.....

Also, I think the song "Come What May" really fits for the Aragorn/Arwen relationship. Just see for yourself:

Never knew, I could feel like this
Like I've never seen the sky before
Want to vanish inside your kiss
Everyday I love you more and more

Listen to my heart
Can you hear it sing?
Telling me to give you everything
Seasons may change
Winter to spring

But I love you
Until the end of time

[CHORUS]
Come what may
Come what may
I will love you
Until my dying days

Suddenly, the world seems such a perfect place
Suddenly, it moves with such a perfect grace
Suddenly, my life doesn't seem such a waste
It all revolves around you

And there's no mountain to hide
No river to wide
Sing out this song and I'll be there by your side
Storm clouds may gather
And storms may come out

But I love you
Until the end of time

[CHORUS]

Some of the words may be off, but I think I did pretty good, considering it was done completely from memory.
