A Questions on JRRT's books...

In what order should they be read? I have read The Hobbit and LOTR, but where should I go from there? If at all possible, I would like to be able to read the stories chronilogically. Any help would be appreciated...

Well, the subject title says it already! There are ofcourse also the smaller writings of JRRT, like Smith of Wootton Major, Farmer Giles of Ham, Leaf by Niggle.

Welcome to the Barrow Downs, Aklan! Earendilyon is correct, but to expand on the shorthand, the next step after LoTR would be the Silmarillion. Some find it somewhat difficult in comparison to LoTR but stick with it. One or two reads should get you hooked (and you can always ask questions here). Then you can proceed to Unfinished Tales, which expands some of the stories contained in the Silmarillion, tells the tale of the Downfall of Numenor, and offers essays about other subjects such as the wizards and the palantiri.

If you are still hooked after that you can proceed to the 12 volume History of Middle Earth series. This contains drafts and alternate versions of LoTR and the Sil. plus other historical, philosophical and linguistical materials. It is definitely not for everyone. But if you are hooked, you're hooked.

Excellent...thanks for the tips. I have already purchased a copy of the Sil, but was afraid to read for fear of getting things out-of-order...
