Canadian Barrow Downers

So, the american BD-ers are having their own convention. personally, i cant and dont want to travle halfway across the continent. So why not have a convention specifically for Canadian and northern US BD-ers?

Rosseiliantiel 06-25-2002 10:51 AM

Yay! All in favour say Aye!...hullo people, 'Aye!' already...lol.

Naaramare 06-25-2002 11:05 AM

That sounds like an interesting idea . . .*L* I have a bit more trouble than most, living in Northern-Northern BC. ::is very interested::

gollum*elf*pup 06-25-2002 03:26 PM

Aye! i say! that sounds like a good idea!! where would you have it?

Thinhyandoiel 06-25-2002 04:03 PM

I'm totally game. I, too, cannot afford to travel down to the states for a convention. Something a bit more local would benefit alot of us Canadians, eh?

Losthuniel 06-25-2002 04:56 PM

so, where does evry1 live? Rosseil, Naurlothwen, and Naurlothwen's two sisters (who are signed up, but i dont know their names, sorry)and i all live in toronto

Naaramare 06-25-2002 05:31 PM

Fort St John, BC. ^^;;; North of Nowhere.

gollum*elf*pup 06-25-2002 07:21 PM

i live in aurora, which is about half an hour away from toronto. i dont know if that 's good or bad.

I'm from very South BC! I would love a convention, but probably wouldn't be able to go. Could try... great idea!

Thinhyandoiel 06-26-2002 01:43 PM

I'm from Edmonton. Where would we hold this so that (mostly) everybody would be accomodated?

Losthuniel 06-26-2002 01:54 PM

hoom, hum, difficult indeed. i was thinking we could have it some weekend august. what does everyone else think?

Arwen Imladris 06-26-2002 08:16 PM

I live in eastern/northern Ontario. 5-7 hours from Toronto, depending on who's driving.

Hmmm...
Sounds cool to me!

Losthuniel 06-26-2002 08:44 PM

T.O: 6

Ivy of the Woods 06-26-2002 10:50 PM

there don't seem to be many Canucks around here...

Losthuniel 06-27-2002 06:50 AM

Galadrie1 06-28-2002 11:22 AM

i'm from Deep River. it's like 200 km away from ottawa. i wouldn't be allowed to go to a convention BUT you can all come to deep river for summerfest, cuz my parents don't care what i do then, lol. i know none of you could come, but i'll put up the website anyway:

Auriel Haevasawen 06-28-2002 04:27 PM

Sorry for bothering you as I'm not a Canadian but may I come too? I know my way around Alberta (Calgary, Banff,Sylvan Lake, Red Deer etc) and can get a plane to Toronto quite easily. I think I may not have enough money for this year but if you hold one next year I'd love to meet you.

Losthuniel 07-01-2002 08:45 PM

Losthuniel 07-02-2002 03:36 PM

Thius si one major migraine. we are very scatterd across the country, so it is very difficult to pick a place for a convention.

i WANTED to go to wham bam, but my parents wouldnt by tickets 4 me

Galadrie1 07-02-2002 03:57 PM

Lila Bramble 07-02-2002 04:33 PM

I come from Mexioc, half the year Canada, half the year Mexico. If it goes ahead, I hope I'm in Canada at the time! It would be grear, becuase everything is in the states! Canada likes Lord of the Rings, too, BarrowDowns!

Manelwen 07-02-2002 04:35 PM

I am stuck in NB. I just got posted here from Edmonton. But soon I will be posted to Ontario...something I am NOT looking forward to. (No offense to Ontario people, its just the circumstances of my move uhm-well to put it bluntly-suck.)

Well, no complaining. At least its not Afghanistan.

Luinsewiel 07-02-2002 05:30 PM

Anyone else here from good 'ole PEI? happy belated canada day everyone our fireworks sucked!! (and all canada was watching too ) if there was a convention i might be able to go and when i got older i would definatly know for sure. thank you Losthuniel for posting this link in novices and newcomers i'm hardly ever on.

Thinhyandoiel 07-03-2002 02:31 AM

Manelwen! Finally! Someone who's lived in my beloved city!

And yeah, we are all kinda scattered, aren't we? I definately don't want this in Saskatchewan (no offense, it's just so bloody boring in that province). But I've noticed everyone either lives in far western or far eastern Canada. (so far) And the only compromise I see is Saskatchewan..and that's just not...well, uh. Let's go to Nunavut instead, eh?

Ah yes, and HAPPY CANADA DAY! (Belated, I know. But I was busy that day!! )

Deep River, Ontario - Summerfest 2002

ah! i actually read the stuff on the summerfest website!! the awesome harmonica guy is coming back!!! he's amazing!!!
oh, and i don't think there's a map or anything on the summerfest website, so here's the Deep River website.. there's probably a map on there

Does anyone live in Newfoundland?! I hear that place is the coolest ever! I haven't been there, but all my friends have...

Galadrie1 07-06-2002 01:15 PM

I've never been to Newfoundland. i don't really travel in Canada much - i've never been further west than ontario (where i live ) i've gone to PEI though. i do most of my travelling in the States (i've got tons of family and friends there), and i go to India when my family's financial status allows us to take the trip (and when it's "politically" safe to go there).

Rosseiliantiel 07-08-2002 07:36 PM

what should we do bout where to have it? how bout a vote?

Losthuniel 09-09-2002 06:52 PM

I just thought I'd pull this up again, cuz we have some new members..

Rosseiliantiel 09-09-2002 07:17 PM

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!

Salix 09-09-2002 09:14 PM

I'm from Calgary Alberta.

Arwen Imladris 09-10-2002 02:01 PM

This is from a while ago but Galadrie1, I will see you tomorow.

Perhaps what we could do would be to have several conventions, like one for each probince or something. I think that this will be way to hard to try to organize but if somebody wants to (NOT ME!!) go ahead and I would try to come.

Melephelwen 09-19-2002 08:23 AM

Sorry to mess around here, as I'm not Canadian, but in *counts on her fingers* 2 years, I am perhaps going to Canada for a few weeks. Don't ask where, 'cause the arrangors(sp?) are also concidering Estonia. Don't wanna go to Estonia yet.
And in 4 years I'm moving to Canada for a year (either Vancouver or Toronto).
Just in case you wanted to know

Rosseiliantiel 09-19-2002 07:50 PM

Come to Toronto! (not that I'm biased or anything...hehe...I'm hoping this post won't start a big debate over which city is the best)

Melephelwen 09-20-2002 01:14 PM

Well, I'm hoping to go to Toronto (No offense, any Vancouver's who may be around) but there's that small economical thing. I can't find any precise numbers, which can tell me which city is the cheapest.
Anyways, if you hold a Canadian BD-thing, can it wait 4 years?
