Who sang it?
A new quoting system... well, not really, but in this topic/game, you have to guess which song it is, and who sang it.

The song is Eärendil was a mariner and Bilbo wrote and sang it in Rivendell.
Who sang: But long ago he rode away, and where he dwelleth none can say; for into darkness fell his star in Mordor where the shadows are. [ September 19, 2002: Message edited by: elengil ] |
It is the song about Gil-galad, and Sam sings it on the way to Rivendell, (just before Weathertop, if my memory is right?)

I can give you more of the song, if you want. That's just one verse
|
Umm ... that was sang by the dwarves when they were in Beorn's house, right? Just a guess (*hides from stuff thrown at her*)
|
*tosses a rose* Congratulations!

Hey, that was cute. "Ducks from things thrown"..."tosses a rose"
...hopeless romantic... |
Why thank you, merlilot

K, I guess it's my turn then right? This one's pretty easy, so I started kind of near the end so it wouldn't be a dead giveaway:
"Grey now as tears, gleaming silver, red then it rolled, roaring water: foam dyed with blood flamed at sunset; as beacons mountains burned at evening; red fell the dew in Rammas Echor." Thanks for not throwing things at me that are TOO objectionable! |
is it the song that the minstrel sang at theoden's funeral?
|
Not quite. Very close, though. Same instance.
|
Song of the Mounds of Mundberg
|
Yeah, was that it?
off topic: when is the next time I get 'promoted' up from wight? Is it 200? Cuz I am at 176 as of this post. |
250, each time it doubles.
|
Anyway ... yea, that's right Lothiriel. Quote on ...

Ppppt. So I have roughly 75 more posts to go? What will I be then?
And please, quote on...I love this game. |

Welcome, btw. [ October 01, 2002: Message edited by: Legalos ] |
Ok, well I don't have my book right now, so I'll do an easy one. But I don't wanna give it away, so I'll only do some of the lines.

That is the song of the Barrow Wights, yes?
|
I'm almost positive about my guess above, so...
Farewell sweet earth and northen sky, for ever blest, since here did lie and here with lissom limbs did run beneath the Moon, beneath the Sun... |

Can you give a hint? I can't remember where it is, and I can't find it, and it really tickles(sp?) me, because I can remember, that I thought it was good!
|
Hmm... well, one of the Fellowship sings/chants it. I can't say which book, though, because that would make it too easy!
|
Of course!! Now I remember!! Stupid me! It's the song Gimli sings in Moria, about the times of Dúrin!! And I even thought about it, but just blew it out again!!!
