Nope, it's about a woman of the race of men.

A further hint: While Ransom Stoddard did return, this man did not.

Glirdan 06-17-2006 09:00 PM

Arwen to Aragorn?

symestreem 06-17-2006 09:47 PM

No, they met again.

Hint: Night! Day!

Rune Son of Bjarne 06-18-2006 03:42 AM

Tilion to Arien ?

symestreem 06-18-2006 05:39 AM

No, they're not of the race of men.

Rune Son of Bjarne 06-18-2006 01:26 PM

sorry, I just got carried away and forgot about the previous hints.

Elennar Starfire 07-05-2006 08:10 AM

I think I know...but I can't remember their names and don't have my Silmarillion with me to look it up... darn brain.

Glirdan 08-17-2006 02:23 PM

I think I've finally got it!! Earendil to Elwing (I think that's her name anyway).

Glirdan 08-30-2006 08:57 AM

Bump!

Symestreem?? Did I get it??

Urwen 05-04-2015 03:56 AM

I am gonna revive this, and this song fits whom I have in mind. And no, it isn't anyone from my 'mafia'

I had my wake up
Won't you wake up
I keep asking why
And I can't take it
It wasn't fake
It happened, you passed by

Now you are gone, now you are gone
There you go, there you go
Somewhere I can't bring you back
Now you are gone, now you are gone
There you go, there you go,
Somewhere you're not coming back

The day you slipped away
Was the day I found it won't be the same no..
The day you slipped away
Was the day that I found it won't be the same oh...

(From "Slipped Away by Avril Lavigne)

Thinlómien 05-04-2015 04:02 AM

Sam to Frodo?

Urwen 05-04-2015 05:48 AM

Nope.

Pervinca Took 05-09-2015 03:49 PM

Finwe to Miriel?

Urwen 05-11-2015 03:32 AM

Close, but no cigar.

Pervinca Took 05-12-2015 11:27 AM

Arwen to Aragorn?

Urwen 05-13-2015 03:18 PM

Nope, the previous guess was closer.

Pervinca Took 05-14-2015 01:12 PM

Feanor to Finwe, then.

Urwen 05-15-2015 03:04 AM

Still wrong and still close

Hint: brother and sister *disclaimer: not la familia either*

Faramir Jones 05-16-2015 09:28 AM

N to T?

Nienor to Túrin?

Urwen 05-16-2015 10:23 AM

*facepalm* I knew someone would say it, so I explicitly stated it's NOT them in the disclaimer.

Pervinca Took 11-29-2015 11:19 AM

Feanor to Miriel?

Urwen 12-07-2015 06:38 AM

Nope, it's Turgon and Aredhel.

Urwen 05-01-2019 09:16 AM

Thread Revival

Because I stumbled upon a collection of perfect songs for some of ME stuff. So here is the first one.

We'll drive out the [darkness] from this land that we own.
With our blood and our steel we will take back our home.

- Age of Oppression/Aggression by Malukah

Urwen 05-09-2019 02:20 PM

No one wants to try?

Urwen 05-11-2019 05:53 AM

Another bump

Why doesn't anyone want to try?

Urwen 05-16-2019 10:48 AM

Someone please try this. Please......

Morsul the Dark 05-16-2019 04:38 PM

I’m splitting hairs but the song is from Skyrim 😛

Obviously there’s two answers that come to mind. I’ll pick the more obscure one fist.

Retaking Osgiliath

Urwen 05-16-2019 04:41 PM

Nope.

Morsul the Dark 05-16-2019 04:44 PM

The Dwarves retaking the lonely mountain.

Urwen 05-16-2019 04:47 PM

Nope.

I’m much less versed on first age lore so if it’s in there I’m not going to get it. Granted the original context matters less, but the song is a Stormcloak song about taking back Dkyrim from the Imperials and Thalmor.

Now blood and steel definitely implies war or battle, so it’s not Bombadil casting out the wights since for that he used song. The song is from a bard but that’s pushing.

Now Rohan does drive Saruman out and certainly lots of blood and swords involved there.

Treebeard and the Ents in the last March of the ents. Certainly less steal but more blood. Afterall they willingly marched into what for all intents was the end of their people.

Lastly, the Scouring of the Shire definitely has a merit to the song as well.

So there’s my next three guesses :)

Rohan
Treebeard
Scouring of the Shire

Urwen 05-17-2019 07:06 AM

Nope. It looks like this answer doesn't come to mind easily, but the answer is the Elves' attempt to reclaim Beleriand, the land of their birth.
