The Hobbit quotes!
I couldn't find a thread with The Hobbit quotes on this first page, so I assume there has been awhile since there was one. I've just read The Hobbit for the first time, and I loved it, so I thought I'd start a topic. Anyway, the first quote is rather easy I should think!

Gandalf to Bilbo! (I love that book!!!)

The 2 other Hobbit quote threads were first posted in 2001; one of them's closed and the other hasn't been replyed to since April. So I think you're OK!

You're of course right Gralin Your turn then!
April?! Haha, then it's probably OK yes |

Gandalf to Bilbo
*if its wrong its probaly because i only read the hobbit twice* |
nope!
Errrrrrr... Bilbo to Bifur?!?!
I know thats not right, hehe, but it was a hard quote. Hmmmm... |
nope! it was said before they got to Beorn's house.
AAAHA! I finally found it.
It was said by the great goblin to Thorin in a huge cavern under the Misty Mountains. |
*bows to hobbitlass* Very good. Your turn

Gandalf, at the beginning of the Misty Mountains, chapter 'A Short Rest'
Very good again, Arwen. Your turn.

Quote:

just a guess...Thorin?
Balin?
Must be one of the dwarves... |
Gandalf to Thorin who was whining about the giants.
Your turn, Legolas. It was Gandalf to Thorin, but unfortunatly I lost my place in the book, so I don't remember what Thorin was whining about though.

Gandalf said it to Thorin & Co and Bilbo, it mattered siince goblins were to relight them ant therefore to catch escaped captives
Good, H-I!
Quote:
Gandalf says this to Thorin and company after the eagles drop them off at the Carrock.
correct, hobbitlass, proceed :)
"Tomorrow begins the last week of Autumn".
Thorin says this to the other dwarves as they sit "on the doorstep" of Smaugs lair and wait for Bilbo to decide something.
Now for a new quote....hmmmm... "Get up lazybones," he said, "or there will be no breakfast left for you." |
Bofur said it to Bilbo (grumbling) when they woke up in Beorn's home.
Well, here's another!
Quote:
Balin said it as they approached the mountain.
Am i correct Durelin?
Beren I think you're right.
Well, I know I'm right and its been a week so...
Quote:
Bilbo thinking to himself about some large bees.
You are wonderfully correct Legalos.
I don't remember that part. What chapter and/or page number was that in, please?
A page number would do you no good unless we have the same publishing. It's in Chapter 7: Queer Lodgings. Beorn was a bee-keeper - don't remember that?
Anyway, the next quote... Quote:
'Besides they need no ropes in here, said the Elvenking,' There is no escape from my magic doors for those who are once brought inside.'
BTW, thanks for the chapter on the last one. I DID forget about Beorn keeping bees. Man-Bear-honey-bees, DUH!! |
'Yes, yes!' _____ said. 'It isn't all that big,......'
I really really hate it when someone other than the person giving the quote tells the answerer that they're correct unless it has been a week.
