Quote:

Sanity, leave me now! I choose the realm of dreams.
Rip.

And as I'm changing it again before anyone else has posted here, I won't double-post. Rip to the first sig in my first Siggie Serial...

Quote:

Spare a little candle, save some light for me. Figures up ahead moving in the trees, white skin in linen, perfume on my wrist, and the full moon that hangs over these dreams in the mist.

Aethelwine 04-02-2004 02:18 AM

Goodbye...

Well, I've been with this siggie for such a long time, I felt it was time to change it. I still like it though!

Quote:

Farewell, O twice beloved! A Túrin Turambar turun ambartanen: master of doom by doom mastered! O happy to be dead!
Farewell, oh much beloved! You will return, one day...

Love,

Aethelwine.

...the book has become something of a cult.
Said by Flair about the Fellowship of the Ring. Gandalf for prime minister!

Nuranar 04-03-2004 07:17 PM

From the most lyrical of chapters:

Quote:

For once more lust of battle was on him; and he was still unscathed, and he was young, and he was king: the lord of a fell people. And lo! even as he laughed at despair he looked out again on the black ships, and he lifted up his sword to defy them.
I would have loved to see this depicted in the film.

For now, The Faerie Queene. Very enjoyable, and certainly gives one furiously to think about certain names and motifs . . .

I changed my sig again. It used to be

Quote:

I don't like raisons...all they are is humiliated grapes
Or something to that effect. It's from the movie Benni and Joon.

My current sig are two quotes (the italacized lines) combined into one. The first is a quote from Agent Smith, while the second quote is from Peter Pan. The two combined forms a rather good attitude on life, methinks.

Eowyn Skywalker 04-09-2004 09:40 PM

I doubt I'll change mine ever again, but I used to have:
Quote:

Do not stand between the Nazgul and it's prey. However, if you stand between my lightsaber and the Nazgul, I may have to cut you down as well!
And that was regarding the fact that I am Eowyn Skywalker, and, of course, have a lightsaber... and well, yeah. I had to remove that to make way for my very long link...

The Perky Ent 04-09-2004 10:22 PM

Well, my 1st sig had a good running. From december to April! It was
Quote:

Well, that's it...so...um...bye!

It really shows my true spasmness

Carlas 04-11-2004 02:40 PM

This one always made me laugh....

R.I.P. Morrissey:

Quote:

And if a double-decker bus crashes into us, to die by your side is such a heavenly way to die.
And Dave:

Quote:

Father up above, why in all this hatred do you fill me up with love, love, love
I think I'll still quote from those songs in the future. They're that good.

Aylwen Dreamsong 04-14-2004 04:36 PM

RIP

Quote:

I've heard there was a secret chord,
That David played and it pleased the Lord.
But you don't really care for music, do you?

That one was almost four months, I think. I'll keep my new one for a while, though.

The Saucepan Man 04-14-2004 05:08 PM

Ashes to ashes ...

OK. Time to lay my old sigs to rest here.

My first and most appropriate, to which I shall one day return:

Quote:

And inside they saw the strangest little man, dancing the strangest little dance! He had saucepans and kettles hung all over him, he wore a saucepan for a hat, and he crashed two saucepans together as he danced!
And then a series of quotes from modern English icons that I found amusing and surprisingly relevant:

Quote:

I think it was John Lennon who said: "Life is what happens when you're busy making other plans.", and that's how I feel. Although he also said: "I am the Walrus, I am the Eggman" so I don't know what to believe. ~ Tim Canterbury ~

Quote:

I'm not from these parts, I'm from a little place called England. We used to run the world before you. ~ Ricky Gervais ~

Quote:

We should thank our collective parents for bestowing on us the gift of rock. ~ Justin Hawkins ~
But for now, I am content with a highly relevant (to me) quote from a slightly older English icon. ;)

Firefoot 04-14-2004 07:11 PM

I've finally decided on a new sig. Here was the last one:
Quote:

Frodo Lives!
"By Elbereth and Lúthien the Fair," said Frodo with a last effort, lifting up his sword. "You shall have neither the Ring nor me!"
RIP

Thorongil 04-15-2004 02:35 AM

I'm changing mine again.
Quote:

An eye for an eye would make everyone blind.
It as said in a movie with Mr. Gollum himself. (Can't remember the name of the movie though)
RIP.

Nilpaurion Felagund 04-17-2004 04:12 AM

Sig change!

First,

Quote:

I was thinking; are you thinking? If you think I think you're thinking, then I think you shouldn't think at all.
composed by yours truly.

Now,
Quote:

It's always times like this when I think of you/
And wonder if you ever think of me...
from A Thousand Miles by Nessa Carlton. A lovely, melancholic line with the word "think" twice.

The Perky Ent 05-06-2004 04:20 PM

Alas i leave my 2nd quote:
Quote:

Gil-galad ech vae vaegannen matha, Aith heleg nín i orch gostatha; Nin cíniel na nguruthos Hon ess nín istatha:
Aiglos
It's the inscription on Aiglos, Gil-Galad's weapon during the Last Alliance!

The Perky Ent 05-08-2004 07:49 AM

And so another passes.

It's been a while since I've had this sig, but I thought I should put it here anyway. Sniff sniff! Goodbye, sweet sig! And may flights of angels sing thee to thy rest!

Quote:

I read banned books.
So short, yet so revealing.

And my other favorite...

Quote:

You look strangely familiar... Have I threatened you before?
Oh Jack Sparrow, it is with a heavy heart that I abandon your psychotic pirate banter and replace you with nonsense!

And how can i forget...

Ah, the dreadful doom of life...

*Sigh* This old signature has served me well, but all good things must come to an end. Perhaps one day, far from now, I will discover this little siggy in my attic, blow the dust off, and return it to its rightful place at the bottom of all my inane postings. But until that day, it will rest here.

Quote:

~Cold be keyboard and monitor and mouse.
Cold be your skin when you reside in your house,
But never more will you wake from stony bed,
Without logging on and checking the dead.
A moment of silence for my aged siggy.

Lush 05-15-2004 06:40 PM

Rest in Peace, O quote from Seamus Heaney's "Tollund"

~...To make a new beginning,
And make a go of it, alive and sinning,
Ourselves-again, free-willed again, not bad.~

I think this one is self-explanatory somehow. Or is it?

Well, it's about religion. Both Pagan and Christian. And life. Oh how.

Nurumaiel 05-16-2004 03:33 PM

Alas, fare thee well, dear beloved dead signature. Maybe I'll take you back someday....

From the lovely song Grace:

Quote:

Now as the dawn is breaking my heart is breaking too. / On this May morn as I walk out my thoughts will be of you / and I'll write some words upon the wall so everyone will know / I loved so much that I could see His Blood upon the rose.

Lyta_Underhill 05-27-2004 12:24 PM

Time to change the sig again...I've made it past Cerin Amroth on what I'm now calling the "Walk to Mount Doom," so I lay to rest Frodo's thoughts upon that fair place:
Quote:

“Frodo stood still, hearing far off great seas upon beaches that had long ago been washed away, and sea-birds crying whose race had vanished from the Earth.”
and replace it with something completely different!

I also think it is time to give Frodo something to drink, so I'm changing my avatar as well (Frodo has smoked enough by now!)

Cheers,
Lyta

Maeggaladiel 05-27-2004 12:54 PM

Well, I've done a lot of sig and avatar changing recently, and I haven't gotten a chance to lay them all to rest. So, Farewell Figwit!

My old sigs:

(Rainer Maria Rilke)
and W.H. Auden's Petition:

J. R. R. Tolkien

I really liked this quote, but decided to let it go. Is my new signature just an excuse to link to the awesome bastion of amateur literary intelligentsia that is the Fan Fiction forum (see, I did it again!)? Mostly, yes. I still like the quote, though.

Gorwingel 06-23-2004 01:06 AM

Well I don't have the exact quote, because I did get rid of it a while ago. But I would love to say a fond farewell to one of my most favorite quotes ever. If you have seen the film Finding Nemo you most definitely know this quote: It is Dory's quote from when they run into the Jellyfish, and she finds a small one, and calls it her "Squishy". I thought it was one of the most brilliant lines from such a brilliant film, so I had to have the quote for a while. But now I'm on to Gandhi for at least a little bit

Son of Númenor 06-25-2004 11:41 AM
