How many names are used twice in the lines of stewards? Don't count a name if it is used once in the line of stewards and once elsewhere.

luthien-elvenprincess 05-10-2004 05:52 PM

Three: Hurin, Turin, Denethor

Son of Númenor 05-10-2004 05:54 PM

Húrin I & II
Túrin I & II
Ecthelion I & II
Denethor I & II

That makes four names used by two Stewards of Gondor. I believe that is all.

luthien-elvenprincess 05-10-2004 05:58 PM

crap, crud and corruption...I missed Ecthelion

symestreem 05-12-2004 03:13 PM

Neither are correct. Remember, Stewards doesn't have to mean ruling steward; I'm only looking for names used exactly twice; 'the line of stewards' also means their descendants.

NightKnight 05-12-2004 03:24 PM

Turin, Ecthelion, Denethor, Belecthor, Boromir and Barahir. Hurin was used thrice.

Son of Númenor 05-12-2004 03:26 PM

Drat.

symestreem 05-12-2004 07:52 PM

NightKnight is right.

NightKnight 05-13-2004 11:17 AM

I think I most be the most forgetful person on this forum. I'VE DONE IT AGAIN! Once again I had a great question, but as usual it's gone when I get here. ;)

Name ten rohirrim that died on the Fields of Pelennor.

samwise8504 05-13-2004 12:10 PM

theodon,grimbold,guthlaf,dunhere,elfhelm,herefara, herubrand,horn,fastred and deorwine

symestreem 05-13-2004 08:17 PM

Theoden, Harding, Guthlaf, Dunhere, Deorwine, Grimbold, Herefara, Herubrand, Horn, and Fastred, because Elfhelm did not die on the Fields of Pelennor. Although Samwise is still correct.

NightKnight 05-14-2004 05:00 AM

Samwise, like symestreem said, you only have nine. Elfhelm didn't die there. So symestreem, it's your turn. :)

symestreem 05-15-2004 07:37 AM

What color was Erkenbrand's horn?

samwise8504 05-15-2004 08:28 AM

black

symestreem 05-15-2004 09:26 AM

Yes! :)

samwise8504 05-16-2004 07:24 AM

which king of rohan slew the great boar?

symestreem 05-16-2004 10:52 AM

Folca, the 13th king.

samwise8504 05-17-2004 11:47 AM

correct

symestreem 05-18-2004 02:09 PM

Where was said boar's home?

luthien-elvenprincess 05-18-2004 04:19 PM

Said Boar of Everholt lived in the Firienwood, between the borders of Rohan and Gondor, by the Ered Nimrais.

symestreem 05-18-2004 05:10 PM

Correct.

luthien-elvenprincess 05-18-2004 08:02 PM

Where was Merry's tent located while camping at Firienfeld?

NightKnight 05-19-2004 08:05 AM

Next to Theoden's tent.

luthien-elvenprincess 05-19-2004 12:52 PM

Correct answer, Night Knight

NightKnight 05-20-2004 07:48 AM

Approximately, how many men came to Minas Tirith when Pippin and Bergil were looking?

samwise8504 05-20-2004 12:53 PM

around 1800 i think

Dargoth of Morkrond 05-20-2004 06:18 PM

They were 2000 counted and a few more uncounted though they were less than 3000.

NightKnight 05-22-2004 09:20 AM

There were between 2000-3000. Dargoth, please continue. :)

Dargoth of Morkrond 05-22-2004 06:16 PM

Ok, how old was Boromir by the time of his death??

Fingolfin II 05-22-2004 08:36 PM

He was 41 years old.

Dargoth of Morkrond 05-22-2004 11:03 PM

Correct Fingolfin, your turn....

Fingolfin II 05-22-2004 11:37 PM

Cheers Dargoth, hmm....lets see....ah! Got one-

'No jealousy or rivalry had arisen' between which two Gondorians?

Dargoth of Morkrond 05-23-2004 12:32 AM

Well, I guess................Boromir and Faramir maybe??

Fingolfin II 05-23-2004 02:25 AM

You guess.....correctly.

Dargoth of Morkrond 05-26-2004 08:04 PM

I was searching for a hard one, but I couldn't find any, so anyway:

Who were involved in the three unions between the Eldar and the Edain??

Fingolfin II 05-27-2004 01:28 AM

Hmm.....is this a Gondor and Rohirrim question? Anyway, they are: Beren and Luthien, Tuor and Idril, Arwen and Aragorn.

Dargoth of Morkrond 05-28-2004 08:43 PM

Well I thought so, but that doesn't matter since you are correct Fingolfin, go ahead....

Fingolfin II 05-28-2004 09:54 PM

Ok

Which King of Rohan is similar to me (Fingolfin), and in what respect?

Mithalwen 05-29-2004 12:29 PM

Theoden - because they were both crushed to death?

Fingolfin II 05-29-2004 07:43 PM

Yes- I would have accepted that they were both likened to Orome, but you're up Mithalwen.
