Pallando B.C 02-20-2003 03:34 AM

Yes, Quite East for you, Lindolirian

Lindolirian 02-20-2003 07:51 PM

Mablung
Daeron
Draugluin
Saeros

And no, the answer has NOTHING to do with Doriath.

help!!cant think of anything but there all dead?????? i need a hint please!!!

Lindolirian 02-25-2003 06:08 PM

If you knew my interests *hint hint* you would probably guess it quite easily.

Pallando B.C 02-26-2003 02:30 AM

By your interests, do you mean:

Quote:

Eating Food, reading LotR, having fun
I don't know what that gives me. The all liked meats of some sort. Or some sort of specific food?

Lindolirian 02-26-2003 03:37 PM

I'll give it to ya. They were all decribed eating in the Silmarillion. Hey, I was hungry at the time!

Tar-Palantir 02-26-2003 07:30 PM

oh my, that was a odd one wasn't it?

Pallando B.C 02-27-2003 04:21 AM

Yes it was, lucky I got it!

Dior
Frodo
Aragorn
Christopher Tolkien

Annunfuiniel 02-27-2003 05:20 AM

They all inherited something "great" from their relatives?
Dior: the Silmaril
Frodo: The Ring (+Bag-End and all)
Aragorn: shards of Narsil (and the ring of Barahir)
Christopher Tolkien: the scripts of his father!

Pallando B.C 02-27-2003 05:27 AM

Your on the right path.

The Saucepan Man 02-27-2003 05:34 AM

They are all described as "heirs":

Dior - Thingol's heir

Frodo - Bilbo's heir (to Bag End)

Aragorn - Isildur's heir

Christopher Tolkien - don't know for sure, but presumably heir to his father's works.

Pallando B.C 02-27-2003 04:18 PM

That's the word I was looking for.

The Saucepan Man 02-27-2003 09:12 PM

Righty-ho. Here's my offering:

Manwe Sulimo
Tom Bombadil
Kili

Lindolirian 02-28-2003 02:52 PM

They were all known for their good vision.

The Saucepan Man 02-28-2003 07:11 PM

Nope, that's not what I'm looking for.

Fili and Thorin could be added to the list, and there are two others that I could add, but they would give it away.

Durelin 02-28-2003 07:31 PM

All three wore blue!

Manwe - clothing and sceptre (and eyes)

Tom - a blue feather in his hat and I believe his coat was also blue

Kili - his cloak and hood (the same with Thorin and Fili I think)

That's kinda far fetched, but you never know.

The Saucepan Man 02-28-2003 08:07 PM

Spot on Durelin. The other two would, of course, have been Alatar and Pallando.

Not so far-fetched after all.

Your go.

Durelin 02-28-2003 08:27 PM

Yay! Here's an easy one (I think):

Azog
Vardamir
Deor

The Saucepan Man 02-28-2003 08:51 PM

Were they all killed by Dwarves? Azog and Dior were, but I don't know about Vardamir.

Tar-Palantir 02-28-2003 10:04 PM

It's Deor not Dior, and Deor was not killed by a dwarf. So far I'm stumped...

The Saucepan Man 02-28-2003 10:08 PM

Oh, I'd not come across Deor before ...

Are they all kings?

Azog was a goblin-king. Vardamir was a king of Numenor. Deor was a king of Rohan.

Durelin 03-01-2003 03:10 PM

I'm tempted to count that wrong since you sounded so unsure, Saucepan Man! Yes, they were all kings. Told you it was easy!

The Saucepan Man 03-02-2003 07:35 PM

Hey, I was just asking politely like my Mummy taught me.

How about this one:

Bilbo Baggins
Eomer
Beren
Aragorn

elven maiden Earwen 03-04-2003 08:02 PM

THEONLY THING I CAN THINK OPF IS THEY ALL DIED SO CAN I HAVE a clue.

The Saucepan Man 03-05-2003 07:56 AM

Well, it's not to do with their deaths, but ...

[ March 05, 2003: Message edited by: The Saucepan Man ]

Lindolirian 03-05-2003 08:12 PM

Their parents died early or were killed.

The Saucepan Man 03-05-2003 08:27 PM

Nope, not their parents' deaths either ...

elven maiden Earwen 03-07-2003 10:21 PM

they were all mortal??

The Saucepan Man 03-10-2003 07:32 PM

Well, that's true, but it's not what I'm looking for.

The answer relates to the deaths of other characters ...

Tinuviel87 03-10-2003 08:40 PM

I have no idea... i have been trying to figure this out for the past ten minutes maybe they were all related to someone who died? i don't even know what im talking about...

Tar-Palantir 03-10-2003 10:50 PM

They all were near/held/heard the last words of someone who died?

Beren - Finrod
Aragorn - Boromir
Eomer - Theoden
Bilbo Baggins - Thorin Oakenshield

The Saucepan Man 03-11-2003 12:57 PM

Tar-Palantir, you are correct. Well done.

They did indeed all receive the last words of those that you have identified.

Your turn ...

Tar-Palantir 03-11-2003 06:05 PM

Thanks, that was a good one. Tough, but good.

Mithrandir
Nienor
Saeros
Pippin

gilraën 03-11-2003 06:14 PM

Did they all fall?
Gandalf/Mithrandir fell from the bridge
Nienor threw herself over when she discovered she had married her brother
Saeros fell after fighting with Turin
but I'm not sure about Pippin

Rochelle 03-18-2003 09:00 PM

Hmm...perhaps a clue?

Tar-Palantir 03-19-2003 01:56 PM

Ok I'll give a clue.

Mithrandir returned this way
Nienor found Turin this way
Saeros was forced to be this way
Pippin took a suggestion to be this way

Hopefully that will rip the cloak off this question for you.

The Saucepan Man 03-19-2003 03:33 PM

I hestitate to give this answer, but it seems to fit.

Did they all get naked?

I think that when Gandalf first returned as the White he was unclothed.

Following her brainwashing by Glaurung, Nienor ran naked through the Forest of Brethil and was found by Turin lying upon the mound of Haudh-en-Elleth.

Saeros was forced by Turin to ran naked while he pursued him.

Not to sure about Pippin, but presumably he disrobed for his bath in the house at Crickhollow.

Sapphire_Flame 03-19-2003 04:31 PM

They were all naked.

Naked, Gandalf returned as the White.

Nienor was found naked by Turin.

Saeros was forced by Turin to run naked.

Pippin took that particular suggestion after the hobbits were rescued from the Barrow-Wight by Tom Bombadil.

Tar-Palantir 03-19-2003 07:33 PM

Well, TheSaucepanMan got it first. I suppose you can count the bath but I was thinking of the Barrow-Wight incident. Incidentally all of the Hobbits got naked (outside of the bath) at some point in LotR.

you said "Naked"...hehehe

Lomadia 03-20-2003 10:20 PM

What do the following have in common:

Elrond
Galadriel
Celebrian
Earendil

(It's not that Elrond is Earendil's son, Celebrian is Galadriel's daughter, and Elrond and Celebrian are married)
